NO RESERVE Alighieri Dante. Batines I, 75-76; Mambelli, 25; Martini, 29-20; Brunet II, 502; Koch, 7; Sander, 2322.8 ° (160x97 mm). [246] (of 250, wanting first leaves [*] 1-2 with the epistle of Andrea Torresano to Vittoria Colonna and blank leaves H7-8). With three woodcut vignettes in the text of which two double-page depicting the Sito et forma della valle inferna (ff. H4v-H5r), the sins of the infernal circles (ff. H5v-H6r), and a full page with the Purgatory circles (f. H6v). Restorations on the title page, the first papers and the finals with woodcuts, marginal waterstains, some papers with traces of dust. Nineteenth-century Morocco with edges, marbled paper on the covers, gilt titles on the spine, coloured edges. Fictitiously handwritten noted.A rare counterfeit of the Aldine edition of 1515, which reproduces exactly the format, the print character and the leaves number. Plagiarism is probably due to the Forlì-born printer Gregorio de' Gregori, active in Venice and in Fano between 1480 and 1528, working both alone and now with his brother Giovanni de' Gregori, now with Bernardino Stagnino. Batines I, 75-76; Mambelli, 25; Martini, 29-20; Brunet II, 502; Koch, 7; Sander, 2322.
