ENGLISH SCHOOL "Study of King Charles Spaniel", pastel, together with assorted prints, to include French study of man on horse CONDITION REPORTS Spaniel picture has some general wear and scuffs and appears to have a crease or repaired tear across the middle, size approx 55 x 43cm. The Pegase picture of a horse and rider is a hand coloured print, size approx 29 x 23cm. The picture of chickens appears to be in acrylics, size approx 35cm 33cm. All other pictures with wear and scuffs, and some with damage.
JIN CHANG LIU "Nude study", pencil, indistinctly signed lower right, together with PETER COLLINS "Still life", oil on panel, indistinctly signed lower right, dated '92, one other watercolour and two prints CONDITION REPORTS "Nude study" watercolour - approx. 34 cm x 40 cm, crease in paper to upper section, frame is chipped with losses and generally needs repair. "Town scene" print : approx. 37 cm x 35 cm, generally dirty, browning in places, picture has slipped in mount, some small chips to frame. "Busy town scene" print : approx. 38 cm x 30 cm, some very slight dirty areas, small chips and scratches to frame. "Nude study" : approx. 51 cm x 74 cm, small creases to paper throughout, slight dirty grey marks, frame with some small chips and scratches. Still life" : approx. 75 cm x 50 cm, possible repair at upper left corner, some losses to paint throughout and scratches, dirty brown "splodges" throughout, frame dented, with scratches, etc.
AFTER JOHANNES BLAEU "Britannia Anglo Saxonum Heptarchia", map, black and white engraving, later coloured CONDITION REPORTS Size of the printed image approx 52.5cm x 42cm, total size approx 62 x 52cm. Print is sealed within the frame so unable to check whether or not it is stuck down / laid down. However, the appearance through the glass is fairly flat so it is possible that it may be stuck down. Repaired vertical tears at and near centre fold. Some general wear, dirt and rust type spots. Bears a faded brown ink inscription / number bottom right which appears to read "55". Some smudges and splashes of the red colouring to the map. The board to the back of the frame is stamped "Galerie Ray ..........". The map is believed to be a 17th Century print. NB Print has now been removed from frame, and we can confirm that it is stuck down throughout straight onto brown board, and the edges have been trimmed to the size of the board.
CONTINENTAL SCHOOL "Seated elderly bearded Cardinal in red skull cap and robes", watercolour, unsigned, together with "Portrait study of a girl", modern reproduction colour print CONDITION REPORTS Size of Cardinal picture approx 14 x 17cm, some light general wear and some small nicks and wear around edges of paper, but otherwise appears in reasonably good order. There is a pencil inscription to the back of the frame which reads "Jan 18th 1969....". Back has been removed for inspection, and there is a pencil inscription to the back of the picture - which appears as though it may read ".... green Walnut flat .."?? - please see photos. The framed print of a lady has some general wear and scuffs.
A rare dedicated photograph of A. A. Milne, Christopher Robin and Winnie the Pooh, a contemporary print of the famous Howard Coster photograph with hand written message in A. A. Milne’s hand mounted below ‘Christopher Robin Milne thanks you for your letter & the music & sends you this with his love’ - 83?4in (22cm) x 43?4in (12cm) - Provenance - this lot is being sold by the actress Susie Blake, the granddaughter of Annette Mills. Susie’s father was a friend and later a soldier with Christopher Robin; it is believed that Annette wrote some music for Christopher Robin and this was his thank you.
A good Chad Valley girl doll, 1930s, with pressed felt face, painted features, brown eyes, red mohair wig stitched into waves, jointed velvet body, original blue floral print summer dress, blue felt hat and shoes, woven label on right foot, blue card swing tag and white cleaning instructions tag - 17in (43.5cm) high (slight fading and light foxing to limbs)
