RODGERS RICHARD: (1902-1979) American Composer, famous for his collaboration with Oscar Hammerstein on various Broadway musicals. An interesting T.L.S., Richard Rodgers, one page, 4to, Sixth Avenue, New York, 28th March 1947, to Richard Miles. Rodgers thanks his correspondent for their letter and continues to answer their questions in three numbered paragraphs, in part, `I do not use any of the Schillinger devices and have found any mathematical approach to composition extremely stultifying...Almost without exception the music for the songs I did with Larry Hart was written first and the lyrics followed....I do not make my own piano parts for print. These are made by Dr. Sirmay at Chappells from my original manuscript which is an extremely full and complicated one and is devised primarily as a structure for orchestration.` VG

Clemens (flew 19 combat missions in the Mustang with the 84th Fighter Squadron, 78th Fighter Group at Duxford) and Captain Wayne L. Coleman (flew 75 combat missions in the P-47 Thunderbolt and the P-51 Mustang; shot down three FW190s in a single mission and later a ME262 jet).
