A 1796 pattern light cavalry officer’s sword, broad, curved, shallow fullererd blade 32½”, etched and blued and gilt for two thirds length with crowned 1801-16 Royal Arms with supporters and motto, trophy of arms, etc, and Union spray, on one side, and on the other with crowned GR cypher, trophy of instruments etc, mounted horseman and flourishes, steel stirrup hilt with crossguard and langets, pronounced knucklebow, plain forward sloping pommel and backstrap, ribbed fishskin (worn) grip, in its steel scabbard (worn and pitted, one ring missing). Sword Good Condition, the blade retaining approx 70% blueing and gilding. Plate 19
A large WWII German navigational gyroscope (?), of mainly aluminium construction, diameter of outer ring 24”, the inner ring mounted on springs, the central mechanism on gimbals, the outer ring bearing Luftwaffe Waffenamt stamp and various numbers including “41” date or manufacturer’s code. GC The vendor states that this was taken from a V1 which crashed in Kent.
A good .56” Tower percussion Sea Service belt pistol, 11½” overall, barrel 6” with Tower proofs and ordnance inspector’s marks, with button fore sight and rearsight on the breech tang; the lock having double line border and engraved with crowned “VR” and “1855” over “Tower”; walnut fullstock bearing inspector’s marks, traces of broad arrow and “B.O” and name “Johnson”; regulation pattern brass mounts, the butt cap with swivel lanyard ring, and with swivel ramrod and 5½” steel belt hook. A good .451” Westley Richards “Monkey Tail” breech loading percussion carbine, 36” overall, barrel 20” with Birmingham proofs, serial number 2511, and stamped “Whitworth Patent”; lock stamped “Westley Richards” and dated “1865” in triangle; walnut fullstock with steel mounts, saddle bar and ring, and original steel ramrod. Good Working Order and Untouched Condition with dark patina overall, lock with original colour hardened finish beneath the patina. Plate 33
