A BLUE-AND-WHITE 'BUDDHIST EMBLEMS' BOWL, QIANLONG MARK AND PERIOD. H: 9.5 cm, W: 18.2 cm. Supported on a wedge-shaped foot ring and with steep rounded sides rising to an everted rim, the bowl is decorated on the exterior with four roundels at the cardinal points each enclosing a character of the greeting, wan shou wu jiang, separated from each other by bajixiang and lotus sprays, all between a band of scrolls surrounding the rim and petal lappets above the base, the interior with a shou medallion surrounded by the bajixiang. Literature: For a very similar bowl, see He Li, Chinese Ceramics, The New Standard Guide, p. 291, no. 59. Provenance: English private collection.

A LONGQUAN CELADON PLATE WITH ARABIC SIGNATURE, EARLY MING DYNASTY W: 40.9 cm. This large dish is modeled with rounded sides and a flattened rim, standing on a low foot ring. The cavetto is scored with lines suggesting petals and the interior bottom is decorated with a flower spray. All surfaces except a cinnamon-burnt firing ring on the base are covered with an olive green glaze. There is an Arabic signature on the base of the plate and it was possibly once exported to an Arabic speaking country. Literature: Similar examples can be found in the Percival David collection, illustrated in Catalogue of Late Yuan and Ming Ceramics in the British Museum, Jessica Harrison-Hall (2001), London: the British Museum Press- page 484, cat. no. 16:57, 16:58. Provenance: Private collection from British estate.

A LARGE LONGQUAN CELADON DISH, EARLY MING DYNASTY, D: 33.5 cm. The plate is thickly potted and finished with a flat scalloped edge and round sides. The walls are moulded with flower petals and decorated with a sketchily incised floral scroll design. All surfaces except a cinnamon-burnt firing ring on the base are covered with an olive green glaze.

A BRITISH ROYAL WATCH BY K. ZIMMERMAN, LIVERPOOL, 19TH CENTURY. W: 57.7 g D: 43 cm. A fine & unusual gold skeletonized watch. The case is 18k yellow gold with a three body, spring loaded back entirely decorated with vermicelli. The case is engraved with the British Royal coat-of-arms from the reign of His Royal Highness Prince Albert (1819-1861). Inside the case is a hallmark for Chester 1860. The dial has a gold ring with Roman numerals on a matte background, engraved flowers and gold minute dots. The movement is gilt, skeletonized and engraved with foliate pattern, fuse movement with maintaining power and chain. It has 15 jewels in gold settings, lateral counter poised lever escapement and bi-metallic compensated balance. The watch is signed on the back plate T. Dunn's Patent No. 3. K. Zimmerman, 31 Slater St. Liverpool. The English patent office records indicate the patent issued to T. Dunn regarding the case design. The fabrication of the movement design is very unusual for English watches of this period, Weight: 57.7 grams, Case diameter 43 mm. The watch is mounted in a very fine gilded and silk lined jewellery box. On the top is an enameled picture of an elegant lady in a red shroud and signed by the famous French enameller D Henner. Provenance: English private collection. Condition Report: Watch:- Excellent condition. Hallmarks to the inside of the case. In working condition. Minor scratching to the glass consistent with age. Box:- Excellent condition. Relined in red silk and velvet. Ormolu in fine condition. Very small repair to front right leg. Enamel panel in excellent condition.

A CHINESE ARCHAISTIC BRONZE 'HU' VASE, MING DYNASTY, H: 19.9 cm. Inspired by a Shang Dynasty bronze prototype, the pear-shaped body is finely cast in high relief with bands of geometric motifs, rising to the everted neck and rim, supported on a high foot ring. Provenance: English private collection.

A GUAN-STYLE CELADON GLAZED BRUSH WASHER,18TH CENTURY. D: 17.5 cm; H: 6 cm. With rounded sides supported on a ring foot, this brush washer is thickly covered with a crackled greyish-green celadon glaze in imitation of classic Song Guan ware. The washer is thick walled with an upright rim and compressed globular body, raised on a short foot ring, covered with an opaque grayish-green glaze displaying a wide web of black and faint russet crackle lines applied to all surfaces apart from the narrow foot pad.

A FAMILLE ROSE RUBY BACK FIGURE DISH, YONGZHENG PERIOD. D: 22.9 cm. The finely potted dish is finely enamelled to the interior with an elderly man seated at leisure, attended by two elegant standing ladies and a young boy, with a large storage jar and a side table supporting an incense burner and a vase of flowers, all encircled by a border of roundel bands interspersed by cartouches containing floral sprays. The exterior is evenly enamelled in rich ruby-red glaze. Provenance: English private collection. Condition Report: There is a hairline sign of repair to the dish between the outside ring and the middle of the dish.

AN EUROPEAN DECORATED DISH, 18TH CENTURY. D: 27.2 cm. Cream dish on a foot ring with a glazed base. The plate was over-decorated in the Netherlands in various overglazed enamels, iron-red and gold. With a central decoration featuring a bird standing on a flower. The sides with four lions and flower blossoms. Provenance: Former chairman of Sotheby's Asia Julian Thompson's private collection. British private collection. Condition Report: There is a chip on the rim of the dish, and a hairline underglaze crack on it. A burst air bubble on the plate.
