A byzantine ring with D-shaped hoop and rectangular bezel comprising three square-shaped sections; central section with inscribed maltese cross, the left with inscription IC and the right with XC. 10.67 grams, 26.12mm overall, 20.05m internal diameter (approximate size British U, USA 10 1/4, Europe 23.00, Japan 22) (1"). From an old European collection; acquired in Munich in the 1970s. The inscription IC XC is an abbreviation of the Greek words for 'Jesus Christ' (??C??C ???C??C), using the lunate form of the letter sigma. [No Reserve] Fine condition.
