An 18 ct gold, opal and diamond ring, opals estimated weight 1.44 carats, diamonds estimated weight 0.24 carats, gross weight 4.6 grammes. Ring size K.Sold together with a postcard from Queens Hotel, Montreal, Canada to Mrs Bartleet from her son, dated 27 January 1907; a 2005 Insurance valuation and other paperwork pertaining to Captain Bartleet.Provenance: This ring was purchased from the executors of Mrs Bartleet of Tatershall Thorpe, Lincolnshire. It was given by Captain Charles Alfred Bartleet to his wife Edith in 1910 on an anniversary. Captain Bartleet was a senior captain of the White Star Line and was captain of the Titanic on her sea trials. He was also captain of her sister ship the Britannic which was converted to a hospital ship in 1915 and sunk when she hit a mine off the coast of Greece in 1916.
