A RARE AND FINE CHINESE IMPERIAL AGATE CHRYSANTHEMUM-SHAPED DISH, INCISED FOUR CHARACTER YONGZHENG MARK AND OF THE PERIOD 1723-35 The lobed shallow body raised on a short ring foot, with six petals radiating from the centre to a gently-flaring rim, the honey-coloured stone with meandering reddish inclusions, 12.5cm. Provenance: Lt. Col. Edmund Whitehead (1870-1945), an interpreter for the British Army who served in Beijing c.1890, and thence by descent. Cf. The National Palace Museum, Harmony and Integrity, The Yongzheng Emperor and His Times, pp.235-245, where other examples of marked agate vessels are illustrated; see particularly p.237, no.11-63 for a dish of similar form. A BURMESE 'IMPERIAL' JADEITE AND GOLD RING, 20TH CENTURY With a cabochon-cut stone set in a plain gold mount, a single punch mark, with a gemmological certificate stating that the stone is imperial jadeite jade and that no evidence of treatment was observed. Provenance: the Princess of Burma, by repute.

A CHINESE IMPERIAL YELLOW GROUND ANHUA-DECORATED MEDALLION BOWL, SIX CHARACTER KANGXI MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD 1662-1722 The U-shaped body with a gently flaring rim, incised to the exterior with four medallions divided by clouds, all above a band of lappets to the foot, the interior with a fifth medallion enclosed within a double ring, decorated all over with a yellow glaze, the base glazed white, a paper label for Bluett & Sons London, 12cm. Provenance: purchased by Bluett & Sons from A R Ashwell, 26th September 1934, for £4. The collection of Basil Drewe, purchased from Bluett & Sons, 26th November 1935, for £6, and thence by descent. A RARE CHINESE ANHUA-DECORATED WHITE GLAZED STEM BOWL, 17TH CENTURY The flaring U-shaped body raised on a spreading foot, incised to the exterior with two ferocious scaly dragons chasing flaming pearls of wisdom, the interior with a six character Xuande mark in underglaze blue within a double ring, 9.9cm dia. Provenance: the collection of Charles Russell, purchased by Bluett & Sons from Sotheby’s, London, 6th June 1935, lot 85, for £9.
