A set of movable cards, Germany, circa 1930s, 5 chromolithograhed cards (incomplete?), each with a circus scene and a movable figure operated by a metal pin on the verso, 3 of acrobats, 1 of a horse and ring master, and 1 of a clown and performing dog, slot to lower edge, presumably to insert into a stand (lacking), each 9.5 x 9.5 cm, housed in original cardboard box, with colour pictorial label on lid (latter lacking 2 sides), and with adhesive tape repairs to corners of base), together with 5 other chromolithographed cards unrelated, Germany, 1930s, depicting the backs of an audience looking towards a theatre stage with circular viewing hole showing a series of 'moving' pictures when tab to right is turned quickly (a man and jumping dog; a boy and girl dancing and kissing; a ballerina; 2 boxers; and a man on a cavorting donkey), each 9 x 8 cmQTY: (1)NOTE:We have been unable to trace either of these sets of amusing movable cards; both state 'Made in Germany'.

Anglo-Saxon, 6th century, a gilt bronze saucer brooch, measuring 39mm in diameter, 25.97g, with a flared rim, chip carved design with a central ring and dot motif enclosed by six running spirals with tendrils forming pointed lobes; hinge and catch plate behind (cf. MacGregor 1993, no. 2.10). Fine with a green patina but the rim is very worn £60-£80 --- Provenance: Found near Winchester
Romano-British, 1st-2nd century, a lead tag, measuring 95mm x 30mm x 3mm, pointed oval with knobbed ends, decorated with a dog chasing a fox, ring and dot motifs around. Details clear but with vertical crease mark, extremely rare and unusual £80-£100 --- Provenance: Found at Malham (North Yorkshire).

Frankish, 6th century, a bronze Eagle brooch, measuring 32mm x 21mm, Chip carved with central boss containing ring and dot motif, trapezoidal tail and angular foot and wing, large ring and dot eye with curved beak. Iron spring behind (cf. Hattatt 1320). Extremely fine with smooth green patina £200-£260 --- Provenance: Found by a metal detectorist in the Home Counties.
Roman, 3rd century, a silver ring, with oval hoop and sloping shoulders, bezel is raised and oval shaped, engraved with a branch and a crescent, 2.1cm wide. Fine £60-£80 --- Provenance: From a UK collection The cypress tree was sacred to Diana together with the moon and she is often shown wearing a crescent head dress.
