A SIX SHOT REVOLVER. An unusual French style 8mm caliber pinfire six-shot revolver with oblong slots for the pins, having no visible markings. Octagonal/round 5.1/2" barrel with steel frame and ring trigger, plain two-piece grips. The pistol can only be reloaded by removing the knurled barrel screw, and dropping the cylinder itself forward. Shaped steel buttcap with ornate finial, the hammer needs cocking to fire. Overall length 10.1/2".

WW1 & WW11 RNR/RNVR MEDAL GROUPS etc A 1914/15 Trio named to S/Lt-Lt J T Hayes RNR, John Turnbull Hayes, born circa 1889 in Glasgow Scotland. A silver presentation napkin ring C 1917 hallmarks for A H Birmingham, with John T Hayes Lieut RNR. Ships listed as HMS Idaho, HMS Iphigenia, HMS Orotava and HMS Lancaster. HMS Idaho was the Depot Ship at Milford Haven, listed as a Hired Yacht. To supply and support Drifters and Trawlers. HMS Iphigenia an Apollo Class Criuser, was converted to a Mine Layer during WW1. She was sunk as a block ship at the Zeebrugge Raid on the 23/4/1918. HMS Orotava was an Armed Merchant Cruiser, with voyages to South American routes, etc during WW1. HMS Lancaster. One of 10 Monmouth Class Armed Merchant Cruisers, launched in 1902. She was scrapped in 1920. The design faults included an inability to fire the Deck Guns, in any but calm waters. In the Navy List he is shown as a Temp Lt on HMS Lancaster in April 1917. Also around that date on HMS Iphigenia as a T Lt RNR. He was commissioned as a Master of Foreign Going Steamship in the Merchant Service, in October 1914. Second Mate in 1912. Temp S/Lt 16/4/1915. RNR. The RNR roll confirms his awards. The WW11 medals of his nephew Lt H H Johnson RNVR, in their original box of issue. T/Lt B1741, addressed to Mr H H Johnson 34 Leinster Square, London, W2. Serving on Motor Torpedo Boats, he was awarded a 1939/45 Star-Atlantic Star with France & Germany Bar-Africa Star also a War Medal. With an associated miniature group, mounted for wear. His medal slip confirms the (5) awards, all unmounted as issued. The Africa Star was for his services in the Mediterranean Theatre, sailing mainly from Maltese bases.

On the obverse in raised lettering, Breadalbane & c. Horticultural Society to Winner of most prizes. On the reverse is engraved, Won by Mr James Ewing Findynate Gardens. Season 1888. 4. Another with same obverse and legend, reverse engraved Joseph Ewing Castle Menzies Gardens. 1884. Weight 23.9 grams. 5. Another similar medal with engraved lettering obverse, Breadalbane & Weem & c. Horticultural Society. On the reverse again engraved, Professional winning most prizes 1881. Joseph Ewing Castle Menzies. Garden. Weight 24.4 grams. 6/7. Two silver hallmarked Sporting medals, Parkside 100 yds 2nd and Parkside 220 yds 2nd., Both toyne & Co and HM 1898. Both weight combined 18.8 grams. 8.
