An early 19th century mahogany linen press of large proportions: the flaring cornice above two finely figured panelled doors opening to reveal hanging space and further above two half-width and three full-width graduated drawers with gilt metal ring-pull handles, raised on squat bun feet (136cm wide x 64cm deepest x 218cm high)Condition Report: No major problems in generally v good overall condition - the back looks good (but can only viewed from the inside). The doors appear to be reasonably flat and they do close well, there are no slides inside. It is noted that there is very slight varnish drying/cracking to some of the flame mahogany veneers to the two doors. The mouldings around the doors - left-hand door has 3cm piece of moulding away, the right-hand door has the horizontal bar to the top is missing and also the right-hand piece going from the top to the rest of the moulding...the bottom moulding is missing. The cornice is noted to be of good quality - the left-hand return at the back there is a 10cm split, also there is moulding missing from the edge at the back on the top, on the right-hand return (5cm). The drawers are oak-lined and have mahogany veneers onto pine, the locks look original and are present as are the escutcheons and it is noted that the 2nd drawer from the bottom has a GR cypher with a crown above the lock. Minor pieces of beading away from edges of drawers, minor scuffs and scratches to drawers. Would benefit from a minimal professional restoration.
