An Art Nouveau silver purse, Sampson Mordan & Co, London 1907, of rectangular form, the hinged cover embossed with a sprouting floral branch, Rd. No 428858, black fabric lining, upon a belcher link chain with plain polished ring, 10.5cm x 7.2cm, weight 2.77oztCR; Some light denting to the corners and sides. Moderate scratching and wear throughout, commensurate with age and use. Some loss of definition to the embossed details. Some minor splitting to the case where the chain meets the case. Cover opens smoothly and closes with a snap, but does not sit completely flush to the sides, leaving slight gaps. The black fabric lining is pulling away from the sides slightly, and a few pulls and snags. The chain is in good order, no major denting, misshaping, splitting or repair - general scratching and wear between contact points, commensurate with age and use.

A French 18ct gold garnet set watch key on chain, the double curb-link chain with garnet set bead sliders, spring ring and loop fastenings, 35cm long, suspending an 18ct gold garnet set watch key, 4cm long, gross weight 19.6gmsCR; There are eagle head hallmarks to the loop, the cast jump ring connecting the spring ring to the box-link chain, and the cast jump ring connecting the pencil to the chain. There are no marks on the chain proper.

A Clogau 9ct gold locket pendant, the oval shaped locket engraved with daffodils, rope twist border, opening to reveal two transparent glazed apertures, 29mm x 22mm, upon a 9ct gold chain with spring ring and loop fastening, 22cm long, gross weight 8.2gmsCR; The locket bares the Clogau gold hallmarks. The hallmarks to the chain do not appear to be Clogau marks.

A Victorian 9ct gold belcher link chain, later spring ring and loop fastening, stamped ‘9c’, 52cm long, weight 17.5gmsCR: There are smaller rings within the faceted links, presumably for extra security - some of these have come loose, and one appears to have been used to repair a previous breakage - see pictures for illustration. There is moderate denting, thinning and wear to the links, and moderate loss of definition to the faceted detail. Possible signs of repair to some of the links. Spring ring and loop are in good working order, but may be a later replacement. 

Lot 114

An early 20th century sapphire and diamond transitional ring, the central round mixed cut sapphire measuring 4.5mm diameter, set to a white metal lozenge shaped surround set with old cut diamonds, head 13.5mm x 12.5mm, continuing to diamond set shoulders and plain polished shank, stamped ‘PLAT’, ring size O, weight 3.3gmsCR; The ring required professional cleaning, and this may effect colour and clarity gradings. There is a flat reflective inclusion to one side of the stone, visible with 10x, but no with the naked eye. No other obvious inclusions visible at 10x. Sapphire does show moderate nibbling to facet edges and general scratching and wear throughout. The diamonds are largely well matched, however the diamond pictured right appears slightly darker - this may be owing to dirt build up, and may change once cleaned. Diamonds appear white and sparkly when viewed face up with the naked eye. Diamonds appear to be SI/VS in clarity, mostly SI. A couple of the diamond show small chips and surface reaching fractures, and general scratching and wear throughout. There are signs of possible break and repair to the gallery, which shows possible solder repair. Gallery shows some denting and minor thinning - see pictures. Shank in good order, no splitting, major thinning, misshaping or signs of repair. General scratching and wear throughout. See additional images.

A mid-20th century star sapphire and diamond 18ct gold ring, the central oval cabochon blue sapphire weighing 9.39ct (13.4mm x 10.9mm x 5.9mm), continuing to scrolling shoulders set with brilliant cut diamonds, plain polished 18ct yellow gold shank, ring size M 1/2, weight 10.7gms, with accompanying report from The Gem & Pearl Laboratory, report no. 22472, stating that the carat weight is 9.39 carats, that the stone is a natural star sapphire, shows no evidence of heat treatment, and the origin opinion is Sri Lanka. CR; The central stone is in good order, no cracks, chips or losses. Some minor scratching and wear commensurate with age and use. A few internal fractures running just below the surface are visible to sides of the stone, visible under 10x. There is a very minor rattle from the ring when moved, indicating that the stone is very slightly loose in it's setting, however the claws are in good order and the stone is secure - some tightening may be required. All diamonds are present and in very good order, no cracks, chips or losses. Settings in good order, some scratching and wear commensurate with age and use, but no splitting, major damage or repair. Shank in good order, moderate scratching and wear commensurate with age and use, but no major thinning, splitting, resizing or repair.

An early 20th century diamond ring, the central old cut diamond measuring 2.8mm x 2.8mm x 1.7mm, set to a pierced navette shaped white metal head set with four further old cut diamonds, head measuring 13mm x 9.5mm, set to a tapering gold coloured shank, ring size N 1/2, weight 2.1gmsCR; The central diamond is in good order, no cracks, chips or losses. Some scratching and wear commensurate with age and use. Diamonds set to border in good order, no cracks, chips or losses, some scratching and wear commensurate with age and use. The head of the ring shows moderate denting and thinning, but no splitting or repair. There is moderate wear, thinning and minor splitting to the gallery. Shank shows heavy wear to the engraved detail and heavy thinning, particularly around the base. No splitting or repair to shank.

An early 20th century sapphire and diamond floral cluster ring, the central floral head set with five old cut diamonds, interspersed by four mixed cut sapphires, the head measuring 10mm diameter, all set in white metal to diamond set shoulders and tapering gold coloured shank, stamped '18CT PLAT', ring size L 1/2, weight 2.2gmsCR; All stones are present. The diamond pictured bottom on the first photograph has a mid-sized chip which is visible on the photograph. The other diamonds show some minor nibbles and abrasions. The sapphires show moderate abrasion to the facet edges and a few small chips. All stones appear secure. Settings in good order, some scratching and wear, but no large dents, splits or repairs. Shoulders in good order, no major damage or repairs. Shank shows moderate thinning and some minor misshaping, but no splitting or signs of repair.

A few appear to possibly be replacements or fragments. The banded agates are in good order, no chips, cracks or losses, minor scratching and wear commensurate with age and use only. The mount appears in good order, showing some wear and thinning to the top and bottom and sides and general scratching and wear, but no splitting or repair. The pendant bail appears to be later attached. The spring ring mechanism is extremely stiff, very difficult to open and close. See additional images.

An Edwardian diamond and blue stone 18ct gold ring, the central navette shaped panel set with round mixed cut blue stones and rise cut diamonds, continuing to scrolling shoulders and plain polished shank, marks for Birmingham 1906, ring size K ½, weight 2.2gmsCR; PLEASE NOTE: The description of this lot has been altered. The blue stones in this ring have not been tested for synthetic or natural origin, and tests are inconclusive. There is very heavy wear, scratching and abrasion to the blue stones. Some scratching and abrasion to the diamonds, but they are largely in good order. All stones are secure. Settings in good order, some minor thinning, general scratching and wear commensurate with age and use, but no splitting or repair. Shank shows moderate to heavy thinning and denting/misshaping, and heavy scratching/wear, but no splitting, resizing or repair.

A Victorian diamond foliate ring, comprising a central old cut diamond measuring approximately 3.75mm x 2.7mm, flanked by two further old cut diamonds, continuing to diamond set foliate shoulders, continuing to plain polished yellow metal shank, ring size J, weight 3.5gmsCR: One small diamond is missing to the shoulder (this can be seen in the first image on the right, and in the second picture). The three central diamonds are in good order, no cracks, chips or losses, moderate scratching commensurate with age and use only. The shoulders diamonds show some very small nibbles and chips, but are largely in good order, showing general scratching and wear commensurate with age and use. Claws show some wear, but stones are secure. Stones are very dirty, and cleaning is required. Some splitting around the shoulders. There is moderate misshaping and thinning to the shank, and a small split beginning to form, but no resizing or repair. See pictures for illustration.All diamonds appear bright and well matched when viewed face up with the naked eye, not showing an obvious draw of colour. The three central appear to be a VS/SI clarity, however they are dirty and may be different once cleaned. The diamonds to the shoulders are around an SI clarity, but again cleaning is required.
