Small sections of veneer to cockbeaded drawers with losses/faults. The moulding beneath the drawers also has some faults. Legs have some general scuffs and deep scratches consistent with age. One of the brass-capped feet is loose and needs attention. All drawers are open but there is no key. The top is original to the base. Brasses are old but later additions no previous handle marks

Later made glass outer case.

Lot 327

A Set of Eight (6+2) George IV Dining Chairs, circa 1820, recovered in cream geometric floral fabric, the reeded and curved top rails above turned and part-wrythen bars, the overstuffed seats on ring-turned forelegssingles 49cm by 41cm by 83cmcarvers 54cm by 43cm by 83cm Chairs are cosmetically good. The chairs have some slight movement in joints, however, one of the carver chairs needs attention in that it is very weak. Upholstery varies on the seats from good to three of the chairs having staining. Chairs have been previously restored and polished. Old repairs throughout done to a reasonable standard (see images). Chairs are comfortable to sit on.

Pendulum suspension spring is broken, with pendulum and two weights.

Nicholson of Whitehaven Cumbria 8 day longcase clock with penny moon Good 18th Century 8 day Longcase Clock. Two train movement striking on a bell with 13" square brass dial with penny moon and date ring. The four leaf clover winding squares can clearly be seen on the movement and was a nice touch adopted by the Nicholsons. Contained in a walnut case with mahogany cross-banding 92" x 20" x 28"This clock is in good condition and restored by the deceased father who was a clock and watch repairer. My only comment is that the matching of the cross banding needs to be redone or coloured in to match.William and Jacob Nicholson were fine clockmakers and produced some outstanding clocks and this is certainly one of them. Working from about 1730 to late 1700s
