Important German Third Reich 1933 model SS dagger with full Rohm inscription by Eichorn, Solingen.A rare fully authenticated example, the blade obverse etched “Meine Ehre heist Treue” (My Honour is Loyalty), the reverse bearing “In herzlicher Freundschaft Ernst Rohm” inscription and small oval Eickhorn squirrel logo. Black wooden grip inlaid with silvered eagle and enamelled circular SS Sigrunen, the crossguard impressed I (for Munich area), the underside with issue number. Housed in original lacquered anodised nickel mounted scabbard with single suspension ring retaining buckled strap with spring clip and belt loop. Minor dents to scabbard and minor service wear. GCFollowing Hitler’s purge of the SA during “The Night of the Long Knives”, Röhm was shot at Stadelheim Prison by SS-Obersturmbannführer Michael Lippert on 2nd July, 1934, An order dated July 4th required all Rohm inscriptions to be obliterated from the blades, failure to do so risked severe punishment so very few daggers with the inscription remain.

Housed in black repainted scabbard with single suspension ring retaining leather hanging strap (buckle prong replaced) with spring clip stamped DRGM with Assmann logo. Minor rust spots to blade, some paint loss to scabbard.GC

Comprising: 1939/45 Star, Air Crew Europe Star, War Medal. Medals loose unnamed as issued. ... Accompanied by 1914/15 Star, Victory Medal (ring absent) awarded to “15461 CPL N. LITCHFIELD L’POOL R”. Pilot Officer Maurice Jacques Litchfield was serving with 207 Squadron operating the Avro Lancaster Bomber and failed to return from operations on the night of 15th February 1944. The CWGC Roll confirms he was the son of Mr Norman Litchfield of Huyton Lancashire.

Queen’s Own Oxfordshire Hussars Officer’s Busby.A rare example of brown fur busby with Mantua purple bag with three lines of silver flat braid and bullion gimp pearl button. The white ostrich feather and Mantua purple vulture feather base plume , retains silver mount and ring. The interior with crimson silk lining and soft leather lining. The body of the busby is with silver bullion lines as per Regimental dress regulations. Complete with silvered gimp chin chain with velvet backing. GC.
11th Prince Albert’s Own Hussars Officer’s Busby.A very fine example tailored by “J. Daniels & Co” . Rich black sable fur, with triple gold purl cords and gimp boss. Crimson bag with regimental style trimming of narrow gold French braid, forming a circle of eyes around the gold gimp button. . The plume is of white ostrich over crimson vulture feathers, with gilt ring and corded socket, Fine gilt gimp chinchain with velvet lining. The interior with soft leather lining and crimson silk lining this with gold tooled tailor’s details. Overall GC.
Royal Air Force/ Royal Flying Corps WWI Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) medal group with associated documentation, log books, ephemera and personal papers awarded to George William Biles, later Bentley, who flew the King of Belgium over the trenches on the eve of the armistice.The medal group comprises DFC, War Medal, Victory Medal with oak leaf, Coronation Medal, Order of Leopold (Belgium) and Croix de Guerre (Belgium) together with miniatures. George Biles was indentured into the Mercantile Marine in 1910, and after serving his apprenticeship joined the Royal Navy as probationary Flight Sub Lieutenant in November 1915. The first entry in his log book reads 'Reported at Royal Naval Air Station at Chingford, Monday November 8th 1915'. He qualified in December 1915, when his log book entry reads ' total time in air up to and including certificate 3 hours 36 minutes, total time in air alone 31 minutes'Throughout the war Biles flew land and sea planes on the home front and in May 1917 was on active service in Otranto, Italy with No 3 Squadron No 6 Wing before being transferred to the Western Front, Bergues, France with 202nd Squadron 61st Wing. The log entry for 4th May 1918 reads 'escort to fleet patrol....attacked by three Albatross Scouts in first burst Lieut Gowing was shot through groin, and our pressure tank holed. While regaining engine Lieut Gowing drove off all further attacks'. On the 10th November 1918 Capt Biles flew the King of Belgium over the trenches in order to give him an aerial view of the front. Capt Biles changed his name in 1925 to Bentley and continued to serve in the RAF during WWII, and on 2nd July 1940 Group Captain Bentley's log reads 'assumed command of the RAF station Kalapama'Documentation includes nine pilot's flying log books; commissions for Flight Sub Lieutenant RN and First Lieutenant in the RAF; apprenticeship papers and certificates; certificate for gallant and distinguished services signed by Winston Churchill (Secretary of State for Air) dated 1st January 1919; Aviation Certificate number 2228 dated December 1915; various photographs and personal papers etc; souvenir ring from a downed German pilot; two framed photographs no 203 Squadron Persian Gulf 1930-1931 and 'The Nyon Patrol' Malta 1937, see also lot 686 relating to his flight with the King of Belgium
