THOMAS RUSSELL & SON, LIVERPOOL; a hallmarked silver full hunter crown wind pocket watch, the white enamelled dial set with Roman numeral chapter ring and subsidiary seconds hand, the case stamped '925' and further inscribed 'W.H.S.' and '2OZ', with inscription to the front case of armorial crest with initials inside a band inscribed '28th August 1922' (3.8ozt), also a hallmarked silver vesta case with incised floral decoration centred with initials 'H.A.H.', W J Myatt & Co, Birmingham 1919 (0.8ozt) (2).
An 18ct gold open face pocket watch, the dial set with raised Roman numerals, on engine turned back with central disc of chased floral decoration, floral outer ring borders, key wind movement. CONDITION REPORT: Appears to be in going order, slight dimples and scratches commensurate with age, otherwise good.Approx 69.3g.
An early 20th century 9ct gold open face fob watch, the white enamelled dial set with Roman numerals and floral border, crown wind movement, in a 9ct gold floral decorated case, diameter of bezel approx 28mm, with 9ct gold Art Nouveau style brooch attached to the winder ring. CONDITION REPORT: Approx 20.6g. At the time of cataloguing, the watch appears to be in going order, however this is no guarantee of working order.
A Victorian mahogany writing table, with superstructure and green leather writing surface, the base of shaped outline fitted with three frieze drawers and raised on cabriole legs terminating in scroll feet. Height 135 cm, width 130 cm, depth 70 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The writing table is structurally sound. The top left-hand finial is detached but we have the finial. The fretwork doors are not warped and close as they should. The lock is present but we have no key. The doors are not locked. All fretwork to the doors is present but there are some stress fractures. The right-hand door right-hand moulding has a minor stress fracture. The top right-hand fretwork pediment has three broken and detached sections but we have the pieces. The second shelf rear pediment is loose and one arched top is missing. At the foot of each end lower shelf support there will originally have been a thin 16 cm upright which is missing on both sides. You should be able to see the aperture into which this is fitted. The leather writing surface is scuffed and marked. The top of the desk is in generally good order with only minor old blemishes and ring marks and minor veneer losses. All drawers run smoothly and all locks are present but we have no keys. The drawers are not locked. The legs are all in good order with no evidence of any repairs or restoration. We can see no evidence of any woodworm.
A Regency mahogany library table, with tooled leather writing surface and with two actual and two dummy frieze drawers with scroll end supports and turned feet. Height 77 cm, width 106 cm, depth 75.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The table is structurally sound. The writing leather is in generally good condition with no tears or holes. There are numerous old ring marks and small scratches etc but no real problems. The exposed mahogany edge is in generally good condition all round. There is a stain to the front right-hand corner. The drawers look to have each originally had two knob handles. These are not present and have been dowelled. The opposing dummy drawers have also had the handles removed. The sides of the table are in generally good condition. The lyre supports are in generally good order with only minor blemishes and losses to the polish. The sledge supports are in generally good condition with only minor nibbles around the extremities. All applied turnings are present as are the castors. We can see no evidence of any woodworm. The height to the underside of the frieze is 63 cm.
A fine late 19th century French carriage clock, with Sevres style jewelled porcelain panels with both alarm and repeat mechanism. Height excluding carrying handle 14 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on both trains and is currently ticking away and striking when advanced. The repeat mechanism does operate and the pointers adjust as they should. There is a very faint hairline crack to the front porcelain panel which is difficult to see without magnification. It runs from the top right-hand corner across the spandrel above the numeral II and down to below the right-hand cherub foot and finishes where it meets the inner circumference of the chapter ring. There is also another hairline crack which runs from the top of the left-hand figures fishing rod down to the ring around the alarm dial. There are no jewels missing to the front panel although one or two may have been replaced. The right-hand panel is not cracked. One of the jewels is missing and we are not sure whether others have been replaced or not. Two of the white spandrel jewels are also missing. The left-hand panel has a faint hairline crack running from the top edge down to the second lower jewel and further down to the fifth jewel on the right-hand side where it seems to stop. Again some of the jewels are missing and all of the white jewels to the corner spandrels. The rear panel is in good order with the exception of some missing and some replaced jewels. The case is in generally good order with much of the original finish still intact.
A Victorian mahogany chest of drawers, with rear upstand and with two short and two long graduated drawers with glass knob handles and with plinth base. Height 94 cm, width 107 cm, depth 53.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The chest is structurally sound. The top has one significant ring mark which has removed the polish in that area. There are other minor blemishes. The edge moulding is in good condition all round. All drawers run smoothly. There are some very minor veneer nibbles. All locks are present, we have no keys. The handles would appear to be original. The sides are in generally good condition. The backboards are original. The plinth base is in generally good order all round again with only with very minor veneer nibbles. We can see no evidence of any woodworm.
An early 19th century mahogany Pembroke table, crossbanded and inlaid, with frieze drawer to either end and raised on moulded legs of square section terminating in brass roller castors. Height 73 cm, width 82 cm, length open 110 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The table is in very good order. It is structurally sound. The top is flat and the leaves are not warped. There are no splits and no losses to the crossbanding or stringing. The rule joints are all in good order. The moulded edge is in good condition all-round. One end drawer is fitted. The other drawer is not. The fitted drawer has both handles complete and present. The lock escutcheon is missing. The opposing drawer has one brass ring missing from the left-hand handle but the backplate is present. The moulding beneath the fitted drawer has a small loss to the left-hand corner. All legs are in good condition with no repairs and no restoration. The castors are original.
A carved oak table top box, six plank. Height 40 cm, width 44 cm, depth 16 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The box is structurally fairly sound. The top has a fracture running from left to right through and under the left-hand hinge to the edge of the left hinge. There is movement here. The top does hinge correctly. The front panel has a small loss to the top left-hand corner and various other small blemishes and minor stress fractures. The sides are in generally good condition with issues, the back is in good order but plain wood and not polished. There is no evidence of any woodworm. There is one old ring mark to the top surface.
A pair of Victorian walnut bedside cupboards, each with moulded edge and rounded corners and with canted angles with corbels and raised on a plinth base. Height 82 cm, width 40 cm, depth 36 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: These cabinets are in first class condition and could be used in their current state without the need for any work. The doors are not warped and there are no splits and no woodworm. There are some minor old ring marks to the top of one cabinet but no real significant issues.
A late Victorian gold coloured metal five stone opal ring, Size P/Q. CONDITION REPORT: The centre stone appears to be in good condition with only very minor surface blemishes. The two second largest stones both have chips to the same side around the claws. One claw is missing. One of the smaller stones has a chip corresponding with a claw, the other stone appears to be in good order. The claws are all worn and there are a number broken and missing. The stones however are not loose and the shank is in generally good order.
