Royal Interest - A Rare Telephone and Intercom Designed for Her Majesty's Yacht Britannia Circa early 1950s, with black bakelite handset, shaped maple-veneered body, the dial hand-inscribed Ex 443 to label, set with six line switches labelled Royal Servery and Operator Recall to top line, HM Clerks Office, Yeoman, Master of Household, Exch Line 443, Hold Exch. and Ring in red to lower line.This telephone is identical in design to several still displayed on the Royal Yacht Britannia including a set placed on the writing desk in Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's bedroom; these sets purposefully mimicked those in use at Buckingham Palace for sake of familiarity and ease of use for their Late Majesties. 28.5cm wide Generalised wear including some veneer chips, knocks, scratches, etc, commensurate with age and use, a quantity of original cabling is still attached but we cannot speak to the possibility of this phone being functional.

A rare 1860s Bourdon and Richard’s Patent ships-style combined clock/metallic barometer, in a brass drum-shaped case with suspension ring and resting on an ebonised stand. The white enamel 5.25 inch two-part dial has an inner clock dial with Roman numerals within an outer minute track. This is separated from the outer barometer dial with a gilt metal border. The barometer dial has the usual weather predictions within a range of with a range from 28 to 31 inches. The centre bottom is inscribed METALLIC BAROMETER between two exhibition award medallions – World Medal Exhibition 1849, Gold Medal and Universal Exhibition London 1851, Council Medal.The eight-day spring driven clock movement is signed Richard á Paris with silvered lever platform escapement, the back plate struck with serial no. 80.The Bourdon barometer mechanism is attached to the back plate, visible through the glazed back.
