A Pair of George III Silver Sauce-Tureens and Covers, by Robert Garrard, London, 1817 each oval bombé and on four leaf and scroll-cast feet, with shell and foliage heightened gadrooned border and reeded scroll handle, the detachable cover with reeded loop and foliage-cast ring handle, later engraved with a crest21cm wide over handles, 47oz 6dwt, 1,471gr (2)Fully marked near rim and further part marked on cover bezel. There is some wear to the marks but in general they are still clear. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the border and engraving. There is some bruising to the side of one, perhaps where earlier engraving has been erased.
