The sticks are of black leather and continue from the head to the top of the leaf, and are then interspaced with royal blue silk panels. The silver loop has the addition of two chains of differing lengths, one finished with a ring, the other with a square, presumably for attachment to either the riding habit or the horse. Guard length 8 inches or 20.5cm. In good order, some slight staining to the silk panels and on a central stick the leather has worn slightly so pale wood can be seen through. This is a very small area of wear.

The verso is painted with jockeys, depicted as devils, perched on broomsticks, their horns protruding, their jerseys colourful, three blowing horns of various shapes, one carrying a pink banner bearing the initial B. Signed HR to the right. Guard length 10.5 inches or 26.5cm. Some rubbing to the folds, and some folds have nicks to the bottom border, but vibrant colour.
