The barrels ring when tapped, they have been re-blacked. There are no dents visible but there are some light scratch lines which run along the length possibly part of the re-blacking process. The barrels are in proof and measure at:725 on each side against a proof stamp of .719. The walls measure .30 right and .32 left. The bores are clean and free from pitting. The barrels are reasonably on face with only very minor wobble with the forend removed. The actions function correctly with snap caps. A strange feature of this gun is that the barrels need to be opened ever so slightly in order to fit the forend back on. The forend will not fit on with the barrels closed. There is a short split to the forend where the wood meets the metal, this appears to be stable, there is a small chip to the left hand corner. The stock is free from splits or repairs, there are occasional scratches and dents from use but nothing defacing. The metalwork has light overall pitting, the trigger guard is heavily rubbed and the engraved details are faint.

The barrels are on face and reasonably tight on the action with only very minor wobble with the forend removed. The actions function correctly with snap caps. The stock is free from splits or repairs, there are occasional scratches and dents from use but nothing defacing. The forend has a very short split where the wood meets the metal. The chequering to both forend and wrist is very worn and very thin on the wrist. The screw of the top lever does not fit flush and the slot faces the wrong direction.

There is a 5mm split to the stock at the base of the top tang behind the safety catch.

The stock is worn throughout with some dents and scratches. There is a well executed repair to the toe which sadly uses completely the wrong timber and therefore stands out. Two of the trigger guard screws have been replaced.

Outside of this the stock is free from splits or repairs, there are occasional scratches and dents from use, the worst being in the middle of the chequering on the wrist left and side.

There is a fair amount of wear to the stock and it could do with refinishing to look its best. The leather butt pad is scuffed and worn. One of the screw bosses or nuts on the underside of the forend has been replaced with a non engraved poor fitting replacement.

One hammer is a poor fitting replacement and although it works it needs replacing if the gun is to look its best. The lock plates stand proud of the stock around the the base where they sit in the chequering. The stock is free from splits or damages, the chequering is crisp as it has been refreshed. The wood of the forend is ill fitting and not has tight as the woodwork fits around the action.

There is however an alteration to the bottom of the pistol grip to allow an extra grip to be added in order to allow a disabled shooter to fire the gun.

The bores measure exactly 18.5 as the recent proof and the walls are .29R and .23L The blacking has some wear mainly around the breach and muzzles. The action works correctly with snap caps. The stock has some light scratches and dents but nothing defacing and there are no splits or repairs. The forend has a short 5mm split close to the metal join.

This looks to have been stabilised when the gun was restored. There is some wear to the bluing of the trigger guard.

The stock has a small repair to the toe of the butt, there is also a chip to the end of the forend. A previous owner's name 'H.S. Gamble has been stamped on the underside of the butt stock. The case is in need of repair, there is some staining, loose joints, the lid is part detached from the base, two of the side lips are missing.

The stock has some woodworm damage repaired, there three is a wood pin in the toe of the butt probably indicating a repair. There is also a small chip beside the lock plate, and there are occasional scratches and dents from use but nothing defacing.

The action works correctly with two clicks, the hammer is probably a replacement. The stock has a repaired split ahead of the lock plate, there is also a repair to the heel of the grip. Some of the pin holes through the stock have filler covering up wood chipping from the pins being knocked in and out. On one side of the stock a small piece of wood has been let in around a pin hole covering up some of the chipped area. The ramrod and swivels are well made replacements. There is a very un-original looking brass belt clip that has been added.
