Rare and interesting Scottish basket hilted Cavalry back sword. Early 18th C hilt of conventional form with pierced cross guards joined at the pommel by a ring. Large bun shaped pommel. Original oak grip, one minor crack and small chip missing. Hilt pierced with hearts and circles with large O ring. The hilt is of some age and quite possibly much older than the blade. Blade 35" slightly curved single edged, fullered spear point, heavy type Infantry Officers pattern. Hilt pitted overall, blade with light rusting and a dark Patina. An impressive and extremely interesting sword in overall good sound untouched condition.
Sword Bayonet - USA for the Model 1847 Musketoon. Unusual central muzzle ring. Fish scale brass grips. Gladius style blade marked "N.P. AMES CABOTVILLE 1847". In its brass mounted leather scabbard. Chape and lower half of scabbard missing. Overall good condition and rare. See Watts and White No 864.
