1st West York Rifles Militia Victorian Officer’s 1857 hallmarked silver pouch belt plate and whistle boss. A very fine and scarce die-stamped pair by PF (Philip Firmin) bearing London hallmarks to obverse of each. Plate being a crowned laurel wreath with central large White Rose of York mounted on backing plate. Four screw posts to reverse ... boss being a disc with raised floral rim and pierced “West York Rifles”; centre mounted with lion’s mask in relief and fitted with small loose ring for attachment to a chain. Two screw posts to reverse. (2 items) Formed 21st August, 1759 at Leeds. Formed 21st August, 1759 at Leeds; redesignated First West York Rifle Militia 12th September, 1853. A fine die-stamped silver plated circular boss with raised ornate rim mouthed with lion’s mask, its mouth holding a ring securing two strand chain terminating in a whistle housed in its holder. A diagram issued July 1919 showing the method of wrapping pigeons from dropping from aircraft.... An official blank message sheet for use with pigeons ... Also a 50th Anniversary slip. Victorian Rifles Officer’s astrakhan rifle cap. A good example of black lambs wool by Hawkes & Co. of Piccadilly. To the front a swag of plaited mohair cord, which rises to either side and secured by a small blacked strung bugle device. To the front, a blackened curled bugle device, above a black cord boss bearing a Victorian Crown, the boss supporting a vulture and ostrich feather plume, with blacked silver ring. The crown of the cap is of dark green melton cloth ornamented with mohair cord. The interior with leather sweatband and silk lining. Complete with black patent leather chin strap. GC clean condition.

The lid with obverse bearing the head of Herman Gšring in relief within the legend “Der Oberbefehlshaber der Luftwaffe Reichsmarschall Herman Gšring”; base with reverse bearing Luftwaffe eagle and swastika within the legend “Fur Ausgezeichnete Leistungen Im Technischen Dienst der Luftwaffe”.

Joseph Batty Halifax 18th / 19th Century Grandfather long case Clock: This is a stunning, carved oak cased long case / grandfather clock. Mounted on corner feet, the plinth is surmounted by a cantered, panelled base with the main body rising to a stepped hood, all of which is carved with symmetrical heavy decoration. The hood has brass base and capital pillars and carved edging enclosing a silver gilded etched dial and chapter ring with date rings within. The time increments are primarily roman numerals with secondary Arabic depiction. With a Moon feature
