An early Knight’s Cross 1st model, 2nd type (without oak leaves between the arms); 43x26 mm, GOLD, with white bordered, red enameled arms; obverse centre medallion with golden monogram on red enamel, white enameled outer circlet with black enameled order’s motto; white enameled, reverse centre medallion with inscription in black enamel, within a thick, chiselled gold laurel wreath; round upper loop and oval, grooved ribbon ring; original, silk ribbon; missing imperial crown, as it often happens with this type, where the crown acts as a “slider” on the ribbon, not linked to the decoration. A very rare piece, extremely fine condition.

The dial is good, brass inlay a little proud, handle a little loose on the left, dents to moulding around the bottom, some splits to case, some veneer losses to back door, nicely engraved back plate to clock. Set it up with pendulum, wound it and it is working, ticking evenly. There is a receipt from 2007 for a professional service.
