dating: about 1880 provenance: Vietnam, Straight, double-edged blade, ribbed in the middle, tang covered with a brass-colored, metal ring-nut, with the inscription 'TOMMASO DI SAVOJA' on one side, between Savoy knots (the inscription probably added in modern times). Bronze-foil, oval grip with fine silver floral inlays. Embossed and engraved silver quillon and pommel decorated with dragons and ideograms. Wooden scabbard with very fine, floral, mother-of-pearl inlays, and with silver mounts embossed and engraved with floral motifs on a granulated background, four suspension rings. length 92 cm.
dating: 19th Century provenance: Nepal, Solid, long, single-edged blade of typical shape with double groove at the first part near the back, and crescent-shaped carving at the base of the edge, provided with a small spike at the centre, brass inlaid works on one side. Partially checkered, wooden grip with side ring, pommel with narrow base and brass button. Leather-covered, wooden scabbard with two large silver mounts majestically engraved and pierced with floral motifs in bas-relief, the chape with mark. On the back side a small sheath containing two very small knives with checkered grip and flat metal pommel together with another flat scabbard open on both sides. length 50 cm.
dating: about 1880 provenance: France, Rifled, round, 11 mm cal. barrel with slightly enlarged base and foresight; smooth, six-shot cylinder and serial number '1978'. Smooth frame marked 'PERRIN & C.IE B.TE', 'PARIS' and 'L' under the crown; loading gate. Wooden butt, butt-plate with suspension ring. This weapon was also used by the Dragoons of the Papal States - no other serial numbers above 2500 are known. length 31 cm.
dating: about 1870 provenance: Papal States, Rifled, round, 9 mm cal. barrel, with foresight; smooth, six-shot cylinder; iron frame stamped and marked 'F.LLI MAZZOCCHI ROMA', with loading gate on the left side; grip with checkered wooden grips and suspension ring. Serial number '7', various marks. This rare revolver was made in Rome, for the Pontifical Gendarmerie, by the Mazzocchi company, based on the Belgian 'Chamelot et Delvigne' patent. length 20.5 cm.

A Belgian-manufacturing revolver on a Lefaucheux patent.When the navy and then the Italian army began to introduce Lefaucheux-patented pinfire revolvers, many Italian officers privately purchased them; they were also produced for the civil market, and there were also Belgian-made ones. See a revolver very similar to the one presented in our auction in 'Italian Military Pistols by L. Salvatici' (p. 92 below), with caption: 'A Belgian imitation of the Lefaucheux model revolver. Weapons of this kind were purchased privately by officers and volunteers, as an alternative to the original ones'. length 29 cm.

Silver-colored metal handle with damages and small missing parts, decorated with engravings and in relief with effigies of mosques and vases. Pommel with small ears. Antique wooden scabbard covered with leather featuring fluted decorations (small tears and cracks). Silver-colored metal mounts. The cap featuring trophies of arms, mosques, flowers and a sailing ship. The chape decorated en suite and ending in a fish head. Back loop. length 66,5 cm.

Working mechanism in single and double action, marked "GLISENTI BRESCIA" with clearly visible stamp. Crowned "GG" and "FB" mark. Checkered wooden grips. Antique bluing? Ring for the strap. In 1874, Italy adopted a new centerfire revolver based on the Chamelot Delvigne French system, the supply of revolvers was mainly covered by Pirlot Fréres and by the production of the Italian manufacturer Glisenti. dating: 1888 - 1889 provenance: Kingdom of Italy, Rifled, octagonal, 10,4 mm cal. barrel at the nozzle, with foresight. Six-shot cylinder. Working mechanism in double and single action, remains of marks including 'RS'. Marking 'GLISENTI BRESCIA'. Bluing (antique?). Grip with checkered, wooden grips. Ring for the strap. Produced in the short period from 1888 to 1889 and probably made in a few examples, it was conceived to provide the Army with a more compact weapon, i.e. one with a shorter barrel. It was soon replaced by the Bodeo. See a similar example in 'Pistole Militari Italiane' by L. Salvatici, p. 120 with photo. length 24,2 cm.
dating: 1874 - 1889 circa provenance: Kingdom of Italy, Rifled, octagonal barrel, provided with front sight, 10.5 mm cal at the nozzle. Clean bore, visible rifling. Six-shot cylinder. Mechanism working in single and double action. Remains of 'MF' 'TAV' marks and remains of a crowned stamp. Marked with 'GLISENTI BRESCIA' on the left side (the marking is probably refreshed). Folding trigger of the Bodeo type. Well preserved (later?) grips made of checkered wood. Ring for the strap. It is probably one of the rare 1874 mod. revolvers modernized to the standards of the 1889 mod. See a similar arm in 'Pistole Militari Italiane' by L. Salvatici, with photos at p. 163. length 26,5 cm.
dating: 1886 provenance: Brescia, Rifled, octagonal, 11 mm cal. barrel, with foresight and 'IB' mark; grooved, six-shot cylinder; frame marked '.R 213' (the first letter is not legible, probably 'M'), 'REALE FABB. D'ARMI BRESCIA 1886' and marked 'RE' under crown; provided with side extractor and loading gate; checkered, wooden grip scales; grip with ring for the strap. Working mechanism. Rare. In 1874 Italy adopted a new centerfire revolver based on the French Chamelot Delvigne system; the supply of revolvers was mainly covered by Pirlot Fréres and by the production of the Italian firm Glisenti. See 'Pistole Militari Italiane' by L. Salvatici, pp. 109-120. The production of this model by the Royal Factory of Brescia is usually considered rarer. length 31 cm.
dating: 17th Century provenance: Spain, Long blade of hexagonal section, with double grooves fretworked with windows and circles at the first part, a half-moon (or a letter 'D.') at the end of the grooves. Smooth, iron cup-hilt, in the upper third decorated with a band pierced and engraved with floral motifs and outlined edges, near the blade an engraved ring featuring circles on a granulated ground. Ribbed and pointed center of crossguard, straight quillons decorated with knots and with enlarged ends like the loop guard. Smooth spin-shaped pommel, wooden grip covered with wire binding and wire Moor's heads. In fine patina. length 134 cm.
dating: 17th Century provenance: Sweden, Medium-width, double-edged blade strongly ribbed at the center, short tang. Iron hilt, elegant, carved knuckle guard with butt-plate richly pierced with stars and circles, flat quillons, curved with an 'S' and with enlarged and curled ends. Flat loop-guard decorated en suite with the loop-guard of the knuckle-guard, flat heart-shaped pommel, the thumb ring at the back provided with a guard-valve at the base. Wooden grip covered with beautiful iron wire binding and Moor's heads. Rare. length 101 cm.
dating: 16th Century provenance: Venice, Wide, double-edged blade of hexagonal section, with outlined groove at the base, marked 'S,' solid, outlined and grooved tang. Basket-shaped hilt made of engraved iron, with angled quillon and button-shaped ends. With thumb ring at the back, a beautiful bronze pommel shaped as a cat's head with a well-pronounced muzzle in relief. Leather-covered wooden handle (missing parts) without wire binding. length 94.5 cm.

Iron hilt with faceted quillons, curved towards the blade and with slightly enlarged ends. Strong parade ring. Pommel shaped as a truncatedcone with longitudinal grooves. Wooden grip covered with wire binding and with carved edge ring nuts. length 45 cm.
dating: 19th Century provenance: Turkey, Typical single-edged blade with double, thin grooves along the back, the base with gold cartouches (missing parts) with Arabic inscriptions and geometric and floral decorations. Beautiful grip entirely made of fine engraved silver, decorated in filigree with red cabochon stones, some nielloed parts and with remains of original gilding. Very fine wooden scabbard covered in silver foil embossed with floral motifs, two mirrored and crowned lions and two intertwined snakes, the cap richly decorated in filigree and with engraved and intertwined bands, the tip with monster head. The back marked with an engraved crown, the base at the back with a thin snake. Suspension ring with small chain. length 70.5 cm.
dating: Late 19th Century provenance: Sparanise, Single-edged blade engraved with two lovers and floral motifs, carved on the back, marked 'M' (probably 'Martone') at the base. Grip with horn grip scales decorated with yellow metal, bone and horn eyes, brass ring nut (a very small missing part). Simple spring closure. length open 21 cm.
dating: First half of the 19th Century provenance: Naples, Wide, slightly curved, yatagan-type blade, with wide fuller and grooved near the back. With engravings with remains of gilding on half of it, such as anthropomorphic moons and suns, stars and trophies. Small counter-curved brass quillon, brass ring nut and cap, horn handle with small defects. Without scabbard length 76,5 cm.

Iron hilt of typical shape carved in low relief with geometric motifs, disc-shaped pommel decorated with oblique rays and pierced at the upper edge. dating: 1945 provenance: Japan, Heavy and wide blade, nagasa (length: 25 cm) with hi on both sides and with inscriptions of four kanji on the third side, iron habaki. Nakago mei with two mekugi-ana, with inscription on both sides, on one side date 8 February 1945 and 'Thailand', 'on the battlefield' and 'united Kasuya', on the other side 'Aketo Nakamura', 'Gunji' and kanji for the work of two gunsmiths. Western style Koshirae, ray-skin covered grip with simple, black lacquered, iron fuchi-kashira, on each side a three-flowered mon and a twelve-petalled mon with two different kanji, forming together the word 'Loyalty' (towards the Emperor), all made of silver. Blackened wood saya with black lacquered, iron mounts and a band with suspension ring. Aketo Nakamura (1889 - 1966) was lieutenant general, commanding the 5th Division from 1940, which was part of the Japanese invasion in French Indochina. From January 1943 he had been in command of the 39th army in Thailand until the end of the war.The peculiarity of this tanto is that the general himself worked together with an expert gunsmith on its creation, in fact, the nakago also bears his name next to that of the gunsmith Gunji. length 44.5 cm.
dating: Late 19th Century provenance: Belgium, Straight, cusped blade of rectangular section, signed 'DOLNE' at the base. Small wooden pommel, at the center a metal hilt with lid for the blade removal. The mechanism is in working order but very fragile and subject to jams. Bamboo shaft with white metal ring nut under the pommel and metal chape. The Dolne company of Liège was famous for the production of Apache revolvers. length with outside blade 111.7 cm.
dating: circa 1875 - 1890 provenance: France, Octagonal, 11 mm cal barrel, provided with rear sight. Marked 'Acier Fondu'. Well-visible rifling, some signs of use inside. Grooved, six-shot cylinder (pitting on one side) with remains of antique browning. Opening lever, hammer, trigger with remains of antique browning. Handle with checkered, wooden grips, marked 'C&D' inside. Serial number '32xx'. Ring for the strap. 1876 patent by Fagnus. length 26,5 cm.
dating: 1865 provenance: Belgium, Rifled, cylindrical, 11 mm cal barrel, provided with rear sight. Some pitting inside, visible rifling. Six-shot cylinder. Mechanism working both in single and double action. Marked 'SYSTEME ITALIEN', serial number '1xx,' remains of '...BR. BREVETE' (the rest no longer legible), with crowned 'N' mark. The metal parts with some signs of time. Handle with smooth wooden grips and ring for the strap. Interesting mechanism with swiveling cylinder inside, precursory model of the modern revolvers. Mark of the Liege test bench. Alessandro Guerriero, a gunsmith from Genoa, obtained two patents for revolvers and other firearms in 1861 and 1864 (B. Barbiroli, p. 309). length 27,5 cm.
