Nova Scotia1792 (3 Mar.) entire letter ex the "Douglas" correspondence from Hamilton to Prince Edward Island, addressed to "Island of St John, Gulf of St. Lawrence" via an agent in Halifax, marked "Pd 1/7" in red ink and "9", showing red London double-ring "paid" d.s. and, on reverse, very fine "halifax/n: scotia" split double-ring d.s. of 15 May 1892 (crossed by light horizontal filing crease). A rare and early incoming cover. Prince Edward Island1871 (4 Sept.) printed circular from Charlotte Town to Montagu Bridge, bearing 1869 (spring) off white paper, perf. 11¼ 1d. orange-yellow clearly tied by Charlotte Town ring duplex (Type P83 Type I). Prince Edward Island1873 (27 Jan.) envelope from Alberton to Charlotte Town, bearing 1872 perf 12½ 3c. rose paying the inland single letter rate, tied by 4-ring target (Type P121) and showing "alberton/p.e.i." c.d.s. Prince Edward Island1873 (4 Feb.) envelope from Montague Bridge to Boston, bearing 1872 perf 12¼ 6c. black paying the single letter rate to USA, cancelled by 4-ring target (Type P121) and tie by cork "triangle" (Type P128) in transit at Charlotte Town, showing "montague bridge/p.e.i." c.d.s. (Type p63) alongside and, on reverse, Charlotte Town transit d.s.; the 6c. crossed by light crease and the envelope with some faults. Rare, only four examples of this town handstamp are recorded.
