Gorgeous French black marble mantel clock, circa 1880. Works stamped 'J Marti'. Temple form with gabled crest, front inset with panels of rouge marble. Dial with visible escapement and Roman chapter ring, and time & strike movement. Working condition unknown. Measurements: 8 1/4 x 5 1/2 x 10 1/2 in. Please note that all sales are final. Auctioneer's Note: The 35th (Royal Sussex) Regiment of Foot, 2nd Battalion was formed in 1804 and took part in the unsuccessful Walcheren Campaign in 1809 suffering huge casualties before seeing action at the Battle of Waterloo in June 1815. Condition Report: Appears in good overall condition with original steel clip, ring and ribbon. Evidence of clouds, black mineral deposits and feathers to surrounding stones. Viewing encouraged. Box worn and torn.
