Comprising two flat-ended spatulas with twisted shafts and loop finials, and a pair of tweezers with rectangular panel either side decorated with wavy lines flanked by a punched dot border, suspension loop with ring to the apex. 15.4 grams total, 81-82 mm (3 1/4 in.). The blade composed of a straight, double edge with single fuller and clear running wolf marks; signed 'S AH A GOM' in both fullers with 'shooting star' below and with punched crown mark just below the hilt; twisted wire grip, thumb ring, leaf-shaped guard to hilt, bulbous pommel. 826 grams, 84 cm (33 in.). Circa 1st century A.D. Each a scrolled bar formed as a serpent or other animal with stylised geometric detailing; attachment perforations to both terminals. Cf. Bishop, M.C. & Coulston, J.C.N., Roman military equipment, from the Punic wars to the fall of Rome, London, 2006, p.96, fig.51,3 for similar. 19.6 grams total, 64-66 mm (2 1/2 in.). Acquired on the London art market, 1980s-1990s. In the 1st century B.C.-1st century A.D., the Celtic fastening system of the ring mail armour (gallica, lorica ferro aspera) became the standard in the Imperial Roman army, with a pivot attached to the breast and hinged to the edges of the humeralia (shoulder guards). The chest fastener had various different designs. The double hooks, S-shaped and usually with snake-head terminals, were secured by a central rivet on the chest. The system allowed excellent freedom of movement, giving greater protection to the shoulders and the arms. Similar fasteners for infantry mail have been found on the Kalkriese battlefield, some of them also decorated with niello and inscribed with the name of the soldier. [2]
Circa 1st millennium B.C. With leaf-shaped oval blade, thick short midrib, short shaft with fastening holes and circumferential ring for the opening. Cf. Acquired 1980-2015. Ex Abelita family collection. This type of lanceolate spearhead is very common across the Balkans and the Carpathian basin. It originates from Hungary or possibly the Czech Republic.

Including two artefacts accompanied by Portable Antiquities Scheme records: a La Tene IIb style brooch, 3rd century B.C.; an anthropomorphic strap distributor with one remaining loop dated 1st century B.C.-1st century A.D.; accompanied by five other artefacts, including a fitting with triangular attachment arm and discoid head; enamelled discoid stud; penannular ring or bar; zoomorphic fitting; possible wight with domed upper face decorated with chevrons, pellets and hatched triangles, star motif to the reverse. 77 grams total, 17-43 mm (3/4 - 1 5/8 in.). Circa 13th century A.D. With intaglio robed figure to the centre and surrounding legend: '+ AMIE AEI AVEI.'. 5.99 grams, 28 mm (1 1/8 in.). Found Odiham, Hampshire, UK. This is an amatory legend, such are not uncommon on personal seals. It seems likely that the intended inscription was that found on a gold finger ring from Essex in the 18 century, i.e. 'AMI AMES AMIE AVES' [Beloved, love! You have a beloved!], also see a brooch on the PAS database under reference no.BUC-B93E93, which reads 'AMIE AMEZ A'. [No Reserve]
17th-18th century A.D. Comprising bells of various shapes and sizes, most retaining their suspension loop and clapper and producing a range of sounds. Cf. similar specimen in PAS OXON-B6021C, found in Oxfordshire. 1 kg total, 5-13 cm (2 - 5 in.). Acquired 1990s-early 2000s. East Anglian private collection. Like the bell found in Oxfordshire, these bells are quadrangular with sloping sides to a narrow rounded top, furnished of a hanging ring. While these bells are similar in overall shape to Roman and Middle Saxon examples, a post medieval date is perhaps more likely. [12, No Reserve]
