Summers, figured chequered stock, serial number 1618.UK SHOTGUN LICENCE OR RFD IS REQUIRED TO BUY THIS LOT.Condition report: The gun is in very nice presentable condition.The barrels ring when tapped. They measure .730 and .729 against the .729 reproof stamps so there is plenty of life left in them. There is some pitting patches to the left barrel and faint shadows to the right where pitting has been polished out. The exteriors have been rebrowned but there are some scattered pitting marks which were too deep to polish out prior to rebrowning. The barrels are tight on the action without wobble when the forend is removed. The locks work well with strong mainsprings. The stock is in very nice condition with recut chequering at the wrist. There is a short split to the wood surrounding the left hand lock plate. Outside this there are no splits or repairs.

There is are two shallow dents to the right hand tube within the last few inches before the muzzle. The bores measure at .730 right and .732 left. The barrels ring when tapped and are tight on the action.  There is a patch of very light surface scratching to the left hand barrel near the breech, this has probably been caused by clothing when the gun is mounted. The actions function with snap caps. The stock is in good order with only occasional dents and marks.

John Dickson Edinburgh 12 bore hammer gun, 31 inch Damascus barrels choked improved cylinder and 1/4, engraved with 63 Princes Street Edinburgh, converted from a pinfire, black powder proof only, articulated front trigger, rotary underlever scroll engraved action, figured chequered stock, serial number 2690.UK SHOTGUN LICENCE OR RFD REQUIRED TO BUY THIS LOT.14.5" LOPCondition report: The barrels ring when tapped. There are no obvious deep dents however there are some surface pit marks which were too deep to polish off when the barrels were rebrowned prior to the black powder reproof. There are extra images uploaded to the catalogue description to illustrate this. The insides of the bores have scattered pit marks which throughout. The bores measure at .736 and .737, against the .736 black powder reproof stamps. Wall thicknesses are not known. There are some deep pitting marks at the breech end of the barrels close to where the pinfire slots have been filled in, this pitting is probably from the corrosive priming compound in the original pinfire cartridges.The actions work well with good mainsprings. The barrels are tight on the action with no wobble when the forend is removed, there is evidence of work to the barrel lugs to help tighten this joint.The stock is free from splits and repairs, there are minor dents and marks but nothing defacing. There is some evidence of shrinkage with the butt plate and trigger guard tang being slightly proud. The forend has some chips to the thinnest parts where the wood meets the barrels.

UK SHOTGUN LICENCE OR RFD REQUIRED TO BUY THIS LOT.119cm long The barrels have some light pitting patches to the bores in both tubes. The left tube looks to have had a dent raised. The barrels ring when tapped and measure at .724 and .727 against the .719 proof stamps. The barrels have a lot of wear to the blacking and some surface corrosion. There is a minute amount of wobble between barrels and action with the forend removed. The action has some light surface corrosion. The stock has some dents and scratches as well as a chip to the toe.

Belgian 12 bore side by side hammer gun, 30 inch barrels choked 1/2 and 1/2, serial number 6149. UK SHOTGUN LICENCE OR RFD REQUIRED TO BUY THIS LOT.117cm long The barrels have some light pitting patches to the bores in both tubes. The right tube has some light dents to the outside of the barrel. The barrels ring when tapped and measure at .718 against the .716 proof stamp and .724 against the .724 proof stamps. The barrels have a small amount of wear to the blacking. There is a minute amount of wobble between barrels and action with the forend removed. The forend has a split to the inside which does not show on the outside of the gun and is only visible when the forend is removed. The stock has some light scratches.

Lot 126

J.P Sauer & Sohn Suhl, triple barrel drilling doube 12 and .410 shotgun, coverted from a 9.3 x 74R, 25.5 inch Krupp Laufstahl barrels, the 12 bore tubes choked full and full, side safety catch, serial number 336782.UK SHOTGUN LICENCE OR RFD REQUIRED TO BUY THIS LOT.14.25" LOPCondition report: The barrels ring when tapped, there is a very minor surface dent to the right hand 12 bore tube and a pitting patch that has been cleaned off to the left hand tube. The bores have some light pitting patches as well as evidence of polishing to remove pitting. The bores measure at .713 and .714 against the .710 proof stamps. The actions appear to function correctly with snap caps however the safety catch does not always work correctly and will not hold the lower barrel back when engaged. The .410 barrel firing pin does not always retract correctly after firing and drag marks can be seen across the rim of the cartridge. The cross bolt also does not always slide completely home when the gun is closed and needs to be helped with a push. There is evidence of a repair to a small split to the stock behind the safety catch, outside of this there are no damages or repairs to the stock.

Boss 12 bore side by side hammer gun, 28 inch nirto proofed sleeved barrels choked full and half, the rib with faint 75 St James Street London address and '2', rotary under lever, with rebounding back actions all finely engraved with scrollwork, figured chequered stock, serial number 2822.UK SHOTGUN LICENCE OR RFD REQUIRED TO BUY THIS LOT.112cm long Condition report: The sleeved barrels measure to there .720 nitro proof stamps. Wall thicknesses are not known. They are 2.5inch chambers. They ring when tapped and are free from dents. The bores are bright and shiny with no pitting. The barrels are tight on the actions with no wobbles when the forend is removed. The actions work correctly. The stock has some dents and light scratches but no splits or repairs. The butt plate looks to be a replacement. The forend has some chips to the edges. The length of pull from the front trigger is 14 inches and 13 inches from the rear trigger. The stock has a very slight cast off, the drop of the comb is not known.

The barrels ring when tapped however there is a tiny piece of loose solder which can be heard moving when the barrels are tipped up and down. The bores are bright and shiny with no pitting however there are some faint shadows in the second half of each tube from pitting that has been removed. There are no dents to the barrels but there is some wear to the blacking. The bores measure at .738 and .737. The barrels are tight on the action with no wobble when the forend is removed. The action cocks and ejects correctly, and the safety works. The woodwork has some light scratches but no splits or repairs, there are some very minor nicks to the edges of the forend. The chequering is wearing thin in places.
