A scarce 18th century carved ebony pipe tamper, with turned bone screw off cap for housing a metal pipe cleaner (missing), carved head depicts an African slave, with applied metal ring to neck area, approx. 10.2cm long. Further details: bone end loose but just stays on, minor nibbles to ebonised body, some wear and very minor loss to head, hairlines to bone end.
