A Good Late 17th Century Six-to-Eight-Seater Double Gateleg Table, with two rounded drop leaves to form an oval, on turned and block legs joined by turned stretchers, 152cm by 176cm extended by 74cmGood original condition. The top with general scratches. Some ring marks. The centre section is slightly darker in colour than the drop leaves. Old split/repair above one of the hinges (see images). Some deep bruising (see images). Otherwise good original condition.

A George II Oak and Mahogany Crossbanded Low Dresser, mid 18th century, the moulded top above three deep drawers and wavy shaped apron, on square tapering forelegs (the rear legs retipped), 168cm by 44cm by 79cmTop slightly faded in comparison to the drawer fronts but overall reasonable. General scratches and bruises as well as ring marks consistent with age. Brasses seem original. Some old decay to the underside. Back rear foot with old decay. The rear-left leg has a splice repair (see images). Drawer runners replaced but drawers run freely with the exception of the middle drawer which needs slight attention. One of the cross stretchers to the underside is also decayed and needs attention (see image).

A Rare and Early Brass Striking Lantern Clock, signed Richard Beck at Ye French Church, Londini, circa 1655, four posted case with shield and scroll pierced engraved frets, front fret signed Richard Beck at ye French Church Londini, turned finials, 6-1/2-inch Roman numeral chapter ring, floral engraved dial centre, central alarm disc, single wrought iron hand, two train 30-hour movement with a crown wheel verge escapement and large balance wheel, countwheel striking on a top mounted bell, (alarm work missing), 39cm high see illustrations Richard Beck was born in about 1632 and is first recorded as apprenticed in May 1646 through the Clockmakers' Company to John Selwood. After Selwood's death in 1651, Beck was transferred to carry on his apprenticeship under Thomas Loomes until 1653. Richard's short working life was around six years and his work produced in this time cannot therefore have been made in great numbers. Only a handful of lantern clocks by Richard Beck is known today, and these clocks are signed in slightly varying ways but generally 'near ye French Church' or 'at ye French Church'. These were all made as balance wheel examples, as the pendulum did not appear till 1658. Richard Beck produced fine clocks with excellent engraved dials. Tragically his brief life as a young clockmaker who flourished during the Civil War came to an end when he died in 1659 at a young age of twenty-seven. 22.04.21 The brass surfaces are discoloured and nicely aged, side brass doors are missing, back wrought iron panel is missing, alarm work is missing, back left hand side foot with a small crack which is probably a casting crack, movement is dirty and the iron work is discoloured with small rust marks in places, back left hand finial with a small crack to its base, dial with wax missing to the numerals, dial is discoloured, alarm disc is now a dummy and has no alarm work, hand is slightly rusty and has a small split near the end, movement in going order, with one weight.

A Victorian Ebonised Chiming Table Clock, circa 1880, arched pediment with urn shaped finials, fish scale side frets and carrying handles, scroll feet, 7-inch arch brass dial with a Roman and Arabic chapter ring, chime/silent selection in the arch, triple fusee movement with an anchor escapement and quarter chiming on a nest of eight bells and a further bell for the hours, movement backplate engraved with scroll decoration, 42.5cm high see illustration 11.06.21 Case with small dents and scratches, pediment with cracks, back door with chips, back door hinges are slightly loose, back door escutcheon is slightly loose, metal mounts are discoloured, dial is slightly discoloured, movement looks all complete, with pendulum.

An Irish Mahogany Eight Day Longcase Clock, signed Alexr Gordon, Dublin, circa 1780, pagoda pediment, scroll and shell carved front panel, well figured arched trunk door, plinth with a raised panel, bracket feet, 13-inch square brass dial with an Roman and Arabic numeral signed silvered chapter ring, seconds dial and date aperture, four pillar movement with an anchor escapement and inside countwheel striking on a bell, 249cm high see illustration 10.06.21 Pagoda top pediment section has been later added, left hand side pillar with dents, case with some minor scratches and small cracks in parts, plinth sides with some visible cracks, feet with scuff marks, dial is discoloured in parts, later seatboard, small pieces of packing under both sides of the side cheeks, movement looks complete, with two weights and a pendulum.

A Rare Chinoiserie Quarter Chiming Longcase Clock, signed Jos Green, North Shields, circa 1730, caddy pediment, side glass panels, black chinoiserie case with figural, birds, floral and Oriental decoration, trunk door with glass lenticle, 14-inch arch brass dial with a silvered Roman and Arabic signed chapter ring, dial centre with seconds, date aperture and with fine scroll and floral engraving, finely engraved border and arch with phases of the moon aperture, large triple weight driven movement with anchor escapement, quarter chiming on a nest of eight bells and with outside countwheel hour striking on a further bell, later seatboard, 252cm high see illustrations Joseph Green is recorded as working in Northshields as early as 1720 and several longcase clocks are known by him. He is believed to have died in 1739. See Loomes (Brian) Clockmakers of Northern England, pg.130. 09.02.21 Caddy pediment has been re-built, later finials, top section of the backboard has been re-newed, chinoiserie decoration has faded, hood gilt column capitals have been painted, trunk door lock is missing, inside trunk door with top and bottom pieces missing, later seatboard, dial slightly discoloured, with pendulum and three weights.

A Walnut Marquetry Eight Day Longcase Clock, signed Jos Foster, London, circa 1700, flat top pediment, side glass panels, barley twist columns, trunk door with marquetry floral and bird inlaid D-ended panels, glass lenticle, 12-inch square brass dial with a silvered chapter ring signed, seconds dial and date aperture, five pillar movement with an anchor escapement and inside countwheel striking on a bell, possibly later case, 217cm high see illustrations 10.06.21 Case surfaces have been polished, case has a good colour, hood door with a later side latch, trunk door with small cracks, small cracks to some veneers, small scuff marks in places, inside the case side cheeks with two extra supporting pieces of wood added, dial is slightly discoloured in parts, movement looks all complete, with two brass cased weights and a pendulum.

A Marquetry Eight Day Longcase Clock, signed Edward Stanton, London, circa 1700, carved winged cherub and floral crested pediment, barley twist columns, side glazed panels, trunk door with marquetry inlay with flowers, birds and central urns, glass lenticle, matching inlaid plinth, 11-inch brass dial with a Roman numeral silvered chapter ring signed Edw Stanton London, finely matted dial centre and engraved with a central flower head, blued hands, silvered winged cherub spandrels, fine six pillar movement with an anchor escapement and outside countwheel striking on a bell, 221cm high see illustrations Edward Stanton was one of the finest 17th century clockmakers working in London. He started his apprenticeship in 1655 and became a member of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers in 1662. He was made warden from 1693 and became a Master of the Clockmakers Company in 1696. It is thought that Edward dead in 1715. 23.04.21 Later carved pediment crest, hood door is later, inside the hood with small woodworm holes, both sides of the convex throat mouldings are later, top right hand side of the trunk with one small crack to the veneer and slightly lifting, trunk door is very slightly bowed, trunk door with typical cracks about 5cm down from the top, lower edge of the door with some marquetry veneer later replaced which is about 5cm up from the bottom edge, inside lower edge of the trunk door with a cross piece of wood later replaced, marquetry looks later applied to the plinth but has been restored to a high standard to match the other parts of the case, bun feet are later, dial chapter ring with minor staining marks, movement is clean and complete, with two brass cased weights and a pendulum.
