An early 20th century mahogany and upholstered two-seater sofa by Howard & Sons of London - with scroll back and arms, upholstered in the original 'H&S' monogrammed grey ticking, the underside of the sprung seat with exposed curved beech wood spar, raised on square tapered legs with brass castors (not stamped), the underside of the seat with red and white embroidered label 'Howard & Sons Ltd, By Appointment, 25,26,27 Berners St London', further inscribed in ink '2220/4199 E. Dale F. Davey' (LWH 159 x 85.5 x 77.5 cm), structurally sound, the upholstery with stains and a few small holes.* Condition: The frame appears to be very sound structurally, with no evidence of previous restoration. The rear legs may have been reduced in height as they are very short - possibly replaced castors. The legs and castors are secure with no movement and the structure is very sound overall with very little movement. The upholstery is toned, notably to the arms and back, and there are two large ring stains to the back and two smaller to the seat cushions. There are holes worn through the fabric to the front corners of the arms and the right hand corner of the seat front. Old L-shaped stitched repair to the left hand arm and a small patch repair to the right hand end of the seat front.
