Klasse mit Schwertern in Verleihungsetui Feinst in Gold gefertigtes Ordenskreuz des Straubinger Herstellers Jacob Leser. In der Agraffe das Schwerterpaar der Kriegsdekoration in zweifarbigem Gold einfach verschraubt, im Bandring die Feingehaltsangabe "585" und die Herstellerpunzierung "Jacob Leser". In der Öse Feingehaltspunzierung "750" für 18-karatiges Gold. Zweifarbige Flammen zwischen den Kreuzarmen, die Emaille in perfekter Erhaltung. Breite 67 mm. Gewicht 50,97 g. Der achtstrahlige Bruststern in Silber mit verschraubten Auflagen und zweifarbigen, dem Sternkorpus entsprechend gewölbten Schwertern in Gold, teils emailliert. Die leicht verbogene Vertikalnadel gepunzt "900". Rundes Herstellersignet "Hofkunstanstalt Jacob Leser Straubing". Die Strahlenspitzen etwas angelaufen, ansonsten in exzellenter Erhaltung. Der Deckel mit Bruchstelle an einer Ecke, unterseitig etwas wasserfleckig, das Seidenfutter mit Stiftspuren. Ebenfalls einliegend die gedruckte Anweisung, wie das Ordenskreuz (mit und ohne großes Band) bzw. der Stern zu tragen sei.Der damalige Generalleutnant Maximilian Graf von Montgelas erhielt den K.B. Militärverdienst-Orden 1. Klasse mit Schwertern am 8. April 1915. Mit gleichem Datum wurde er zur Disposition gestellt, da er die Verletzung der belgischen Neutralität wie auch die deutsche Kriegsführung in den ersten Monaten des Weltkriegs stark kritisiert hatte.Frühe WK I-Verleihung. Von den 135 verliehenen MVO 1. Klasse mit Schwertern wurden 40 Garnituren nach Tod etc. zurückgeliefert, es verblieben lediglich 95 Sätze in den Trägerfamilien.Provenienz: Aus einer süddeutschen Privatsammlung, erworben in den 1950/60er Jahren. The eight-rayed breast star in silver with screw-mounted appliqués and two-coloured, swords in gold, partially enamelled, curving along the lines of the star. The vertical pin slightly bent, stamped "900". Circular manufacturer's signet "Hofkunstanstalt Jacob Leser Straubing". The ray points somewhat tarnished, otherwise in excellent condition. Width 71 mm. Weight 59.72 g Together with the customised ribbon section (three press studs) for the order cross in the damaged presentation case with the gold manufacturer's signet "Hof Kunstanstalt Jacob Leser Straubing" in the silk lining. The lid cracked on one corner, some water stains on the underside, pen marks in the silk lining. Also included are the printed instructions on how the order cross (with and without the large ribbon) and the star should be worn. Maximilian Graf von Montgelas, then Generalleutnant, was awarded the Royal Bavarian Order of Military Merit 1st Class with Swords on 8 April 1915. He was put on trial the same day for having strongly criticised the violation of Belgian neutrality and Germany's conduct of war during the first months of the World War. Early World War I medal. Of the 135 MMO 1st Class with Swords awarded, 40 medals were returned after the bearer's death etc. Just 95 sets were kept by the bearers' families. Pour le Mérite- und Eichenlaubträger Siegfried Graf zu Eulenburg - Geschenkdegen, datiert 1890 Kräftige, gerade, beidseitig doppelt gekehlte Klinge aus vernickeltem Eisenhauer-Stahl, an der Wurzel eine Herstellermarke, geschärft, am Rücken die Lieferantensignatur "M. Neumann, Berlin", beidseitig im oberen Drittel reich geätzt mit Rankendekor und den Schriftzügen "Eisenhauer" sowie der Widmung "S/l. S. Graf Eulenburg / E. Frhr. v. Meerscheidt - Hüllesem / 1890". Reich reliefiertes Messing-Bügelgefäß (Vergoldungsspuren), preußischer Adler "WR II" am Stichblatt, braune Kautschukhilze in Fischhautoptik, Drahtwicklung, aufgelegter Gardestern, lederne Fingerschlaufe, am Knauf das eingestochene Familienwappen, anhängendes Portepee mit Lederband. Schwarz lackierte Stahlblechscheide (berieben, Rostspuren) mit einem beweglichen Tragering. Teilweise leicht beschädigt, Gebrauchs- und Altersspuren. Länge 112 cm.Siegfried Graf zu Eulenburg (1870 - 1961) trat am 23.4.1889 in das 1. Garde-Regiment zu Fuß in Potsdam ein. Hier wurde er am 14.10.1890 Sekondeleutnant und besuchte von 1897 - 1900 die Kriegsakademie. Bei der Mobilmachung 1914 kommandierte Eulenburg das I. Bataillon und rückte an dessen Spitze im Verbund mit der 1. Garde-Division in Belgien ein. An der Somme übernahm er am 30.10.1916 für den kranken Kommandeur die Führung des Königin-Elisabeth-Garde-Grenadier-Regiments Nr. 3. Nachdem der bisherige Regimentskommandeur Friedrich von Bismarck am 6.11.1915 gefallen war, trat Eulenburg seine Nachfolge an. Sein Brigadekommandeur Generalmajor von der Osten beantragte schließlich für Eulenburgs Leistungen das Eichenlaub zum Pour le Mérite. Am 4.9.1918 erhielt Eulenburg diesen seltenen hohen Orden als einer von sechs Regimentskommandeuren. Siegfried zu Eulenburg war der letzte Kommandeur des 1. Garde-Regiments zu Fuß (30.9. - 11.12.1918). Siegfried Graf zu Eulenburg (1870 - 1961) joined the 1st Guard Regiment on foot in Potsdam on 23 April 1889. He was promoted to second lieutenant on 14 October 1890 and attended the military academy from 1897 to 1900. During the 1914 mobilisation, Eulenburg commanded the 1st Battalion and enlisted at its head in cooperation with the 1st Guard Division in Belgium. In the Somme, he took command of Queen Elizabeth Garde Grenadier Regiment No. 3 on 30 October 1916, replacing the commander who had fallen ill. After the previous regiment commander Friedrich von Bismarck was killed in action on 6 November 1915, Eulenburg succeeded him. His brigade commander Generalmajor von der Osten ultimately nominated Eulenburg for the Oak Leaves of the Pour le Mérite for his services. On 4 September 1918, Eulenburg was one of six regiment commanders to receive this rare, high order. The Freiherren von Meerscheidt-Hüllessem were a prominent Prussian family of generals.
