Darwin was so impressed by the work that he paid for Murray his publisher to print it and bind it in the same green cloth and style as his early editions of Origin of the Species.Provenance: Theodora Ramsbusch (ink stamp to endpapers and signature to head of title).

It was published in a relatively small number of copies, possibly as few as 500. Sara Turing maintains that her son's death was an accident, rather than suicide. The majority of the bibliography lists Alan Turing's works. Provenance: Norman Heatley (1911-2004), English biologist and biochemist, and a key member of the Oxford University team who worked on the development of penicillin for practical use.

By translating the work into Latin, Paulus Ricius, a converted Jew, made available to Christians for the first time what amounts to an introductory course in the concepts and keywords of the Kabbalah. This book is said to have inspired Reuchlin's De arte Cabalistica, which appeared the following year.
