Clarice Cliff - Frank Brangwyn - A limited edition 'Brangwyn' wall charger, circa 1935, painted with a processional scene with figures in a howdah riding elephants with figures and animals in attendance to an exotic tropical setting, diameter 43cm, painted signature 'Frank Brangwyn' to reverse and the wording 'The Brangwyn panels designed for the Royal Gallery of the House of Lords 1925, first exhibited at Olympia 1933, painted by Clarice Cliff from one of the panels, A.Wilkinson Ltd, Royal Staffordshire Pottery, Burslem, Staffordshire, No. 12'. NB - This lot and the following lot were made by Clarice Cliff in 1934-39 and depict life in Imperial India. The plaques are hand-enamelled with scenes from 'The British Empire Panels' designed by Frank Brangwyn. The Brangwyn panels were commissioned by Lord Iveagh for the House of Lords to commemorate deceased peers, though the designs were rejected by the House of Lords as too frivolously decorative. The panels are now on display at Swansea Civic Centre. Clarice Cliff adapted designs from three of Brangwyn's panels for these limited edition wall plaques.

Originally published in ten parts, the first book edition then entitled, The Scenery of the North Cambrian Mountains, came out in 1817 with 30 coloured plates. A second Edition with the same title was published in 1820 with 9 extra plates. This edition has 5i plates and includes fine views of South Wales hence the ‘North’ was dropped from the title. In 1986, she was approached to create a work to be presented as an award to medical personnel who have contributed outstanding research into the disease. Fifteen casts were made and cast by Ken Cook at his foundry.Dr. Allan St. John Dixon was a founding member of The National Ankylosing Spondylitis Society, Dixon was the first Chairman, serving from 1976 until his retirement from the Health Service in 1986.
