CHARLES DICKENS. 'A Tale of Two Cities,' first edition, first issue with p. 213 mispaginated as 113, 16 etched plates by H. K. Browne including additional title and frontis, half green morocco with compartmentalized spine, rubbed, slight toning to illustrations, gilt edge to textblock, vg, Chapman and Hall, London, 1859.I can confirm that the book has the signature mark 'b' to the foot of the plate list and the misspelling "affetcionately" on line 12, p. 134.The leather is rubbed to the edges and on the hinges of the spine. There is a 4cm tear to the bottom of the frontispiece. The title page and frontis have some spotting with the ink not being set properly. 'Charles Dickens' is barely visible. Some indiscriminate spotting throughout with the plates fairing worse, as expected. With no tissue guards present, there has been some leaching of the ink onto the opposite text. The textblock is generally clean and tight.
