Horse-racing.- General Stud-Book (The); containing...the Pedigree of Every Horse, Mare, &c. of Note, that has Appeared on the Turf..., first edition, lacking half-title, lightly soiled and stained at beginning and end, contemporary mottled calf, worn and stained, 8vo, H.Reynell for J.Weatherby, Junior, 1793.⁂ Scarce and early thoroughbred stud-book, preceded only by the less substantial An Introduction to a General Stud-Book published by Weatherby in 1791. This volume of 1793 is therefore the first volume of The General Stud-Book, containing many more pedigrees and far more accurate. Weatherby has continued to issue a stud-book every four years, the most recent volume, number 48, being published in 2017.Not in the British Library. ESTC records only 6 UK copies (Cambridge, Cardiff, Durham and St.Andrews university libraries, and Longleat House and Wellcome Institute), and 3 in America.
