Dust wrapper with black marker pen in child's hand having overwritten the titles to spine, not affecting unicorn image or publisher's logo, spine otherwise a touch sunned and chipped to the head and tail, extremities a little bumped and the odd scuff to the front board, tear to rear upper corner resulting in loss and rear board with discolouration, stains and some light damage; book itself in very good condition with one spot to the front board and light wear to the head of the spine but no clean of prior owner's inscriptions, with just light spotting to foredge not affecting text. The penultimate work in the Narnia series. 8vo.

Publisher's original full cloth binding with gilt pictorial boards depicting elephants, spine with gilt serpent and titles, gilt edges. Exceptionally smart condition, with the lightest bruising to extremities and minimal wear to the head and tail of the spine. Prior ownership stamp of Basil Matveieff to ffep and front pastedown, another ownership inscription in pencil to half title page, otherwise appearing unread with binding very tight and just the odd spot to the pages. A particularly bright second impression example of Kipling's popular work, immortalised in the 20th century in an adaptation by Walt Disney. 8vo.

A scarce first edition and extant work by Powell, a significant Welsh Puritan figure and Fifth Monarchist, known for his imprisonment for plans to depose King Charles II. 16mo.

Stated fifth edition, printed for Iohn Marriot, 18th March 1638. Recently rebound in half calf with marbled boards, gilt titles to spine and fresh endpapers. Title page with significant loss recently repaired. Contemp. inscriptions throughout the text with translations of the Latin names for the herbs stated in the catalogue, occasional age-toning to margins, two tears and repairs to the last leaf of the text. An uncommon early edition of this important work first published by the Royal College of Physicians in 1617 following a proclamation from King James I, which was the first sanctioned catalogue of herbal drugs, their uses and instruction, and later famously translated from the Latin by Nicholas Culpeper. 8vo.
