Neat 18th-century manuscript copy of the chronicle of Florence by Florentine patrician and man of letters Filippo de'Nerli (1485-1556), first published in Augsburg in 1728 as Commentari de' fatti civili occorsi dentro la citta di Firenze dall'anno 1215 al 1537. Provenance: Cecil H. Clough FSA (1930-2017), with a laid-in photocopied letter from Clough in Italian suggesting that the manuscript was probably made from a copy of the 1728 edition. (1)

This second volume includes portraits of Thomas Hardy, Ezra Pound, Frank Harris, Augustus John, Joseph Conrad and the photographer himself. (2)
