[419]-426, is a reply to William Osborn's criticism of Hamilton's theories on the Caesarian operation as found in the 'Conclusion' to Osborn's An Essay on Laborious Parturition 1783.

The first complete edition of the writings of Thomas Hardy including three titles [Jude the Obscure; A Changed Man and The Well Beloved] published for the first time. A Changed Man, the last volume in the set was actually published by Macmillan who had taken over Osgood McIlvaine. Generally a very good set in the publisher's dark green cloth with the series monogram in gilt on the upper cover, spines lettered gilt, with some wear to the spine extremities or joints of some volumes. With two volumes of verse in the same uniform binding and six volumes of verse in smaller format, Macmillan, 1909-1928, all in uniform olive-green cloth with series monogram to the upper cover, spines lettered gilt. Small 4to; dampstained throughout; contemporary vellum, worn and defective. Sold not subject to return. Only edition of this account of the rebellion against Spanish rule which took place in Naples in 1647. Poor government and fiscal hardships for the local population set the stage for this insurrection. Following a new fruit tax, riots took place on July 7 and the viceroy, Count d'Arcos, took refuge. Led by an Amalfi fisherman known as Masaniello (a contraction of Tommaso Aniello), the general populace rioted, erected barricades, procured arms, and demanded the rescension of the new taxes. After negotiations between the viceroy and Masaniello, an agreement was reached in which the rebels were pardoned and the more oppressive taxes removed.
