WILLIAM GILPIN "An Essay upon Prints...", 2nd edition, published London 1768, marbled boards with later tooled leather spine and corners. CONDITION REPORTS Generally appears in reasonable condition. The marbled paper covered cover though is in poor but restored condition with later leather work. Large crack across the right hand corner of the front board. Similarly across the back board. The interior first page marbling faded and browned particularly towards the edging. Next blank pages have ownership name "G H Pettinger ?" and further scribbles (see images). Frontispiece and remaining pages with light-ish brown discolouration particularly browned towards the edges (see images). Rear blank pages with same ownership signature and foxed and with browning particularly to the top edge. Rear marbled pages appear faded. Rear cover in much the same condition as the front cover (see images for further info).

Limited, London 1910, tooled and gilded paper board bound CONDITION REPORTS Frontispage haded "Edition De Luxe", overall condition shows signs of having been damp, with foxing throughout cover particularly towards edges, there is a slit to the front and back edge of cover where there was previously a ribbon joining and has now come away (see photos), inside front and back have splits along edge of binding (see photos)), very foxed on first few pages, all other pages show some foxing along outer edges and when the book is closed the pages look slightly wrinkled from having been damp, however the main content of the pages appear to be in reasonable condition with some browning throughout and one or two spots of foxing on the pages towards the front and back pages, colours of plates appear good (please see example photos), one or two plates have been slightly bent at edges where they have not laid flat in the book, book appears to be comoplete.

SIR WILLIAM OUSELEY (Translator) "The Bakhtyar Nama: A Persian Romance", with introduction and notes by W A Clouston, privately printed 1883, an edition of 330, of which 30 were printed on handmade paper and numbered, this a later copy i.e. after 30, tooled and gilded leather bound , inscribed "To Mrs. Morris from the editor". CONDITION REPORTS Book has general wear conducive to age. The cover is discoloured where it has clearly been kept on a bookshelf (lighter to edges). Some surface scratching conducive to age particularly to the back. Along edges and corners the leather work is quite worn. Binding appears solid. Some general yellowing to pages conducive to age and some foxing (quite bad on the first seven pages) then fading off throughout and disappearing by page 21. At the back there is some generally lighter foxing up until approx page 220. All other pages have some browning to the edges and the odd spot of foxing on the edge of a page and one or two dirty marks from general use. Overall binding appears in good sound condition.
