The first edition was reputedly published in Frankfurt and Leipzig in 1715 and a second edition in Frankfurt in 1728, with a slightly altered title, but Baillie knows of no copies of either. Only one copy of the work (this edition) listed on COPAC, in the National Library of Scotland. ÒThis is a mysterious book, as there is no known English work from which it can be translated, nor is there known any William Manley connected with horology.
