Manfredi Eustachio. Elementi della Geometria piana e solida e della Trigonometria. Opera postuma... In Bologna: Nella Stamperia di Lelio dalla Volpe, [dopo il 1755]. 4° (250x187 mm). [2], 137-173, [1] pages. Lacking the last blank leaf; complete with the second half-title, introducing the Trigonometria. Woodcut initials and tailpieces. Engraved vignette on fol. A1r. 17 folfing engravings hors texte (12 illustrating the Geometria piana; 2 the Geometria solida, and 3 the Trigonometria; a few foxing, small stains, and spots). Foxing and spotting throughout. Some early ink stains, finger marks. Half-title browned, with repair to the blank upper outer corner, without any loss. Repair to the title-page. Contemporary half-leather, marbled covers. Smooth spine, gilt tooled. Title in gold on green leather lettering piece. Edges speckled red. Corners slightly worn, a few scratches. On the front pastedown shelfmark in a nineteenth-century hand.  Second edition of the Elementi by the Bolognese mathematician Manfredi (1674-1739), supplemented with some propositions concerning solid geometry, which had been not included in the previous edition of 1755, edited by Manfredi's brother Eraclito. The new publication was edited by Eustachio Zanotti. The copy is complete with the half-title, often lacking in the recorded copies, and which announces the Elementi della Geometria piana e solida e della Trigonometria as the first volume (Tomo primo) of Manfredi's complete Mathematical Works (Opere Matematiche), a publishing initiative which was never completed.In-4° (mm 250x187). Legatra coeva in mezza pelle con angoli, piatti marmorizzati. Dorso liscio diviso in scomparti da filetti in oro, decorato con piccoli ferri floreali. Titolo in oro su tassello in pelle verde. Tagli spruzzati in rosso.

The work aims to offer the 'official' version of the sessions and issues of the Council of Trent, in order to counterbalance the history published in 1619 by Pailo Sarpi, and to ascribe the responsability of the Schism entirelyly to Lutherans.Un'opera in tre volumi in-4° (mm 207x151). I. Pagine [28], 862, [56] II. Pagine [8], 806, [78]. III. [8], presenti le carte bianche Lllll4 e Sssss6. III. Pagine [8], 885, [71].

The volume also contains the rare first edition of the first work in print by the prolific writer from Parma Ferrante Pallavicino (1615-1644). First and rare edition - in a precious presentation copy - of this popular and highly interesting novel by the physician and writer Francesco Pona (1595-1655), which narrates the adventures of the 'condottiero' Ormondo and his beloved Rosidora, on the background of the wars between England and Scotland. The volume also contains the rare first edition of the first work in print by the prolific writer from Parma Ferrante Pallavicino (1615-1644). Schneider Cup related books and ephemera collection. The Coupe d'Aviation Maritime Jacques Schneider, commonly called the Schneider Trophy or Schneider Prize was a trophy awarded annually (and later, biannually) to the winner of a race for seaplanes and flying boats. The race was held twelve times between 1913 and 1931. It was intended to encourage technical advances in civil aviation but became a contest for pure speed with laps over a (usually) triangular course (initially 280 km, later 350 km). The contests were very popular and some attracted crowds of over 200,000 spectators. The race was significant in advancing aeroplane design, particularly in the fields of aerodynamics and engine design, and would show its results in the best fighters of World War II.
