Heyer, Georgette. The novelist Georgette Heyer (1902-1974) established the fiction genre of historical romance. She was famously private, confiding in a friend that 'My private life concerns no one but myself and my family.' The present owner acquired this book in Reading in the 1940s and has suggested it might have come from the collection of the novelist Joanna Cannan (1896-1961), who knew Heyer and lived in Oxfordshire.
