Alex Hartley Nowhere Island - 2012 Situations  Nowhereisland certificate of citizenship, 2012, a limited edition 28/100, No Where is Land sample,  Measures 54cm x 46cm. Nowhereisland is an artistic project by British artist Alex Hartley, made in 2012. It was an artwork that grew from the proposition ‘what if an Arctic island travelled south?’1 The fundamental premise of the project was to create the world’s newest nation, a borderless country with citizenship open to all. The project began in 2004 with a Cape Farewell expedition Hartley made to the High Arctic region of Svalbard. There, his quest was to find and claim a new island.2 Calling upon the practices of nineteenth century exploration, particularly of the Arctic, Hartley kept an expedition journal. Under an entry titled SEARCH, he describes his pursuit: I find myself monitoring the coastline, watching and checking it against the latest maps and charts: searching for the possibility of new land that might have been revealed from within a retreating glacier. In many places, the charts do not match what I am seeing. Massive glacial retreat has created a changed landscape. Days are passing. We are over three-quarters of the way through our expedition and as yet there is no sign of the imagined island for which I am searching. It was important to Hartley that the island be the physical product or evidence of a changing climate. Only then could it appear as ‘new’ territory, previously unmapped and unclaimed. This lot is also sold subject to Artists Resale Rights, details of which can be found in our Terms and Conditions. 2000 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI 'Tommi Makinen Edition' Transmission: manualMileage:93997By mid-1996, Mitsubishi's rallying success began to really reflect in Lancer Evolution sales. The 1996 World Rally Championship season brought Mitsubishi, a new driver, the blisteringly quick Finn named Tommi Makinen, and its first World Rally Championship drivers' title. By 1997, rallying had captured the imagination of people all over the world and Mitsubishi sold 6,000 Evolution IVs in the first three days of its launch! In the latter-half of 1999, Mitsubishi unleashed a special edition to celebrate its favourite drivers four consecutive WRC drivers' titles from 1996-1999, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI 'Tommi Makinen Edition' (TME). The Evolution VI was already a technological tour de force, but the TME had a more responsive titanium turbocharger, uprated and lowered suspension, quicker steering, a different exhaust, a new ECU, beefed-up transfer case internals, a redesigned front bumper for even better cooling and authentic 17€ WRC Enkei alloy wheels. Plus, there was a special interior, featuring embossed Recaro seats, a Momo steering wheel with red stitching. The performance upgrades saw the 0-60mph sprint obliterated in 4.4 seconds and a maximum top speed of 150 mph. Power was rumoured to be over 300bhp, rather than the 276bhp stated.Originally delivered to Japan this wonderful example has had just two owners from new. The first owner sold the Mitsubishi in 2014 when it was acquired by its one UK owner. Presented in white coachwork over a red and black interior, partially adorned with alcantara. Having been maintained to a high standard throughout its life and having covered a modest 93,997km, this example is offered to the open market in very good condition, the paintwork is showing some minor imperfections but is largely very good and it is reported by the vendor to drive very well indeed. Accompanying the Lancer is a sizeable history file including many invoices and sundry bills, the current UK registration document, many previous MoT test records, the original Japanese books, and a current MoT valid until May 2024. Consignor Daniel Godin

1989 Austin Mini Thirty Transmission: manualMileage:86650By the time the Mini celebrated its 30th anniversary it had already passed the remarkable production milestone of five million (achieved in 1986). Based on the Mini Mayfair and introduced in June 1989, the 'Thirty' was the most luxuriously equipped Mini Limited Edition model to date. Just two alternative paint schemes were offered - Cherry Red or black - featuring contrasting duo-tone coachlines and '1959-1989' decals and bonnet badge. Wheel arch extensions, door mirrors and sill covers were colour-matched to the body, chrome finish being reinstated for the grille, bumpers and door handles, while Minilite-style alloy wheels (soon to feature on the Mini Cooper) were a particularly handsome addition to the package. The 998cc engine could now run on unleaded petrol, and a catalytic converter was available as an option. 3,000 cars were built for the UK market, the colour split being 2,000 in Cherry Red, 1,000 in black. First registered on 1st August 1989 this mini 30 special edition is owned by Lady Judy McAlpine and is part of the McAlpine collection. Offered with an MoT until March 2024 after a light recommissioning the car has largely been stood for many years in the collection covering less than 1,000 miles since 2016 hence may need a little further attention if intended to be driven regularly. This 1275cc Mini 'Thirty' is finished in maroon with black trim with a red-piped leather interior, while other noteworthy features include a white wood-trimmed dashboard, a sunroof, alloy wheels and spot lamps to the front. Presented to auction with a V5C registration document, previous MoT certificates and described as being in good condition having been stored inside away from the elements. This rare example would grace any collection or make an ideal run-around and is offered without reserve. Consignor Mathew Priddy Guide Price £5,000-£10,000 *Interested parties should note the number plate shown is to be retained and a new, age-related registration issued instead.     *Interested parties should note that this example still requires some recommissioning as the carburettor requires some attention. It is recommended that the car is trailered away.
