ANTÓN LAMAZARES SILVA (Lalín, Pontevedra, 1954).Untitled, 1981.Gouache, ink, wax and cardboard on panel. There is a tear in the frame and some damage.Signed in the lower central area.Provenance: private collection conceived since the 1970s between London and Madrid.Measurements: 126 x 122 cm; 151 x 146 cm (frame). In this piece on cardboard, the artist not only composes the work on the basis of drawing and colour, but also intervenes directly on the support by tearing and manipulating the texture of the cardboard. A characteristic that he explored in several works such as 'A Sepultura de Fiz', 1985, which belongs to the collection of the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Artium, located in Vitoria. The expressive pictorial language with complementary colours used as a background and a figure with deformed features indicate that it is probably a work from before 1987. This is the year in which he travelled to New York and his style changed towards informalism and abstraction.A painter, sculptor and engraver with an anarchic background and an anarchic life, Lamazares has worked in Galicia, Madrid and the United States, where his expressionist, synoptic work, sometimes on perishable materials such as corrugated cardboard, is highly appreciated. Lamazares suggests ingenuities which, nevertheless, emerge from careful meditation. He became known, like so many other painters, in the group exhibitions in the Plaza de la Princesa, sponsored by the Vigo City Council, in 1973. The following year he made his individual debut in Compostela, and was also present at the first edition of Atlántica, in Bayonne (Vigo), in 1980. That same year he began to cross borders and exhibited in Buenos Aires. He obtained grants and was selected for very restrictive exhibitions, such as the one held at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo in Madrid. His work travelled to Brazil, Germany, France, the United States... and before he was thirty years old he was already a celebrity, an essential name in the panorama of young Spanish painting. Among his numerous personal exhibitions are those held in the galleries Ánfora (Madrid, 1977), Elisabeth Franck (Belgium, 1982), Müller (Winterthur, Switzerland, 1985), Facchetti (New York, 1988), Engström (Stockholm, 1990), Citania (Santiago de Compostela, 1991) and Pelaires (Palma de Mallorca, 1992), among many others. Lamazares began with a very synthetic expressionist figuration, characterised by a great economy of means. He gradually evolved towards a more meditated, more serene and fully informalist painting, in which large black spaces and geometric structures dominate. In his paintings a random thing, a non-existent object, is installed in a neutral space, and allows the spectator an imaginary dialogue of diverse suggestions. Antón Lamazares is represented in all the contemporary art museums in Galicia, as well as in the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the Caixanova collection and various public and private collections abroad.

Lot 92

AGUSTÍN REDONDELA (Madrid, 1922)."Montiel".Watercolour on paper.Signed in the lower right corner. Titled in the centre.Provenance: private collection conceived since the 70s between London and Madrid.Measurements: 17 x 24 cm; 52 x 43 cm (frame).Agustín Redondela captures in this canvas a scene of sober chromatism, expressive and contained at the same time, of sketchy and forceful forms, where the volumes are constructed on the basis of planes, defined and almost cézannian profiles and a fluid, changing and very nuanced colour, which determines a cold and clear atmosphere. The space is organised in two planes, with the group of characters in the first, in front of the monolithic houses, and in the background the mountain range that rises like a wall enclosing the space, its rounded peaks outlined against a leaden sky of almost white blue tones.A mainly self-taught painter, considered one of the most original Spanish landscape painters of the 20th century, Agustín González Alonso trained with his father, the painter and scenographer José González "Redondela". After the Civil War he attended classes at the Madrid School of Arts and Crafts with the landscape painter José Ordoñez, and in 1945 he sent a painting to the National Exhibition of Fine Arts for the first time, signed with the pseudonym Redondela. That same year he held his first personal exhibition at the Estilo gallery in Madrid. It was at this time that he came into contact with the Madrid School, and in 1947 he was selected to exhibit at the Salón de los Once de la Academia Breve e Crítica de Arte de Eugenio d'Ors. In the fifties Redondela won a grant from the Catherword Foundation in Philadelphia (1954), the National Painting Prize (1953) and the first medal at the National Exhibition (1957). Throughout his career he combined painting with stage design, working for plays by Jacinto Benavente, Joaquín Calvo Sotelo, Dodie Smith and Peter Ustinov, among others. He also did some work as an illustrator, including a luxurious edition of Cela's "Viaje a la Alcarria" in 1978. In 1996 the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando awarded him the José González de la Peña prize, and two years later the Centro Cultural de la Villa de Madrid dedicated an important anthological exhibition to him. He is currently represented in the Museum of Fine Arts in La Coruña, the Museum of Contemporary Spanish Landscape in Priego de Córdoba, the Museum of Fine Arts in Bilbao, the Camón Aznar Museum in Zaragoza, the museums of Buenos Aires, Caracas and Havana and the Oswaldo Guayasamín House-Museum in Quito, among other public and private collections.

A Yard o Led limited edition ballpoint pen and pencils set. In commemoration of the marriage of Prince Harry of England to Miss Meghan Markle, Yard-O-Led created a set of hand-crafted writing instruments entitled The Chapel. This limited-edition tribute is named after the royal family’s private chapel, St George’s in Windsor Castle, in which the wedding is to take place on 19th May, and it memorably reflects the circumstances of this twenty-first century romance. To mark this historic occasion Yard-O-Led will release a matched pair of sterling silver ballpoint pen and pencil in a series of 100 individually numbered presentation cases. Each English Oak case has, like the writing instruments themselves, been hand crafted in England. The sterling silver pencil is hand-chased with flowers and leaves native to California and Britain. The Royal Oak leaves, which nod to Great Britain and the Windsor crest, curl around the Californian Golden Poppy; both are entwined with the Bird of Paradise flower which grows wild both in Meghan’s Canadian place of birth and in Botswana where the couple took their first holiday together and slept under the African stars. The sterling silver ball-pen has been decorated on the original Yard-O-Led Victorian engine-turning machine in a contemporary interpretation of the nineteenth century patterning that is so important a part of the heritage of the Jewellery Quarter of Birmingham, and of Yard-O-Led itself. This special edition is limited to one hundred this set is 14/100 on the silver clips and presented in individually numbered boxes handmade from English Oak. A beautiful collectors set in as new condition

1969 Porsche 911S (2.0 litre) Transmission: manualMileage:75514The Porsche 911 is the flagship car of the German manufacturer. It has a distinctive design, rear-engined, with independent rear suspension, an evolution of the swing axle on the Porsche 356. Since its introduction in 1963, the 911 has undergone continuous development although the basic concept has remained little changed. Throughout its lifetime, the 911 has been modified by private teams and by the factory itself for racing, rallying and other forms of competition and is among the most successful competition cars ever. The earliest edition of the 911 had a flat-six engine in the ‘boxer’ configuration, similar to the 356, air-cooled, rear-mounted and displaced 1991cc. It was mated to a four or five-speed manual ‘Type 901’ gearbox. Built in March 1969, this 911S presents a rare opportunity to the Porsche connoisseur and enthusiast. Being a crossover year model, the 1969 911S was the first and only 2.0 litre S to use the longer wheelbase body of the later 2.2 litre S variant and the legendary 2.7 RS and the first S to make use of Porsche’s ingenious MFI fuel injection system. Other unique elements found only on the ’69 car were the magnesium cased engine with special high compression pistons and single plugs heads, as well as a special oil cooler layout running through the sills with the oil cooler itself sourced from the competition department. Aluminium brake calipers, ‘deep 6’ Fuchs wheels, woven dash and a 7,300rpm marked tachometer are amongst other notable unique features. The included Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, shows the car to have been delivered in Ossi Blue with black leatherette interior. Supplied new to Ontario, Canada, this wonderful example has been lucky enough to have been owned by enthusiastic and meticulous owners throughout its life. The comprehensive history file shows a record of servicing, valuation appraisals, pictures and mileage records throughout, rarely seen with any car. The car remained in Canada until 2005 where the two main owners had cherished it for 28 years between them, before it went to its new owner, a Mr. Louis who imported it to the USA and where for the next five years, it resided just outside New York. It then moved to California where the car was kept for a further seven years by a Mr. Wolfe. Imported to the UK in 2018, the vendor has enjoyed this fabulous little 911 as part of his collection and reports the car to be an absolute pleasure to drive. Since his ownership, the car has been maintained by well renowned Porsche specialists GCS Engineering and Carrera Performance. Over the past couple of years, the car has had any maintenance required carried out immediately. Main items include the fuel pump seals and injection system being serviced and tuned in September 2021, the front oil cooler was replaced in March 2022, the wheels refurbished and fitted with a new set of Pirelli Cinturatos, (including the spare), in August 2022.Supplied with a UK V5C registration document, a fantastic history file, Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, driver’s handbook and it will come to auction with a new MoT test certificate. Having such a good history file, being matching numbers, highly original and in lovely condition, this pretty and rare 911S is not one to be missed.

Lot 134

2000 Subaru Impreza WRX RA STI Limited Version 6 Transmission: manualMileage:81963It is generally accepted that the GC8 first generation Impreza was the best to come out of the Subaru factory. It dominated the world of Rallying for most of the 1990s and its road going versions enjoyed the same dynamics and 25 years ago these were in a class of their own! The last edition of the GC8 was the heavily evolved version which was the strongest and most impressive. Built to factory specification and with the hardcore STI performance tweaks this car has a truly epic feel. With ABS, air conditioning/climate control, electric windows, central locking, four-wheel drive and the iconic blistering 280bhp engine, this 2000 example is number 176 of only 2000 cars produced, therefore making this a true survivor and a much rarer car than standard GC8s. In addition to the impressive STI specification, other additions were made including special colour coding and cosmetic changes to spoilers, racing aluminium pedals, special bucket sports seats, blue colour coding to facia panel and the iconic gold alloy wheels which were unique to this model as well as the roof mounted ventilator.Recently imported from Japan, the car also comes with a good Japanese history which shows (upon translation) that it has the coveted Grade 4B which is one below a brand-new car of Grade 5 in Japan. The history file also includes a couple of original handbooks (albeit in Japanese). The speedometer has also been electronically re-calibrated to miles upon its importation. Most RAs were put in motorsport, so to find a road going version in excellent condition with great mileage like this is so hard to come by. This Impreza is in stunning general condition throughout. Recently serviced and now registered with the DVLA, this Impreza is ready to be enjoyed on UK roads and will come with a new MoT test certificate.

The S2 Type 25 from 2002 was the second 'Legacy Edition' based on the 2nd-generation Elise. This is Number 24 of 50.The Lotus Elise S2 Type 25 embodies the heritage that is Lotus' remarkable Formula 1 history. The original Type 25, the car that made Jim Clark a legend and established Lotus as a major force in Formula 1, broke both technological and innovative boundaries just as the Elise did 20 years ago.Turning away from the 'then standard' tubular spaceframe, Colin Chapman, inspired by the Elan chassis, created the first monocoque racing car by sketching the design on a napkin over lunch with Mike Costin (of Cosworth fame). Virtually built around Jim Clark, the car was secretly constructed in a small area of the then Lotus headquarters at Cheshunt, and made it's debut at the 1962 Dutch Grand Prix. The end of the season saw Lotus failing to win the championship by one point, a fantastic achievement by a radically new and different car, but the following season was to get even better with Clark and Lotus finishing the 1963 season with maximum points, securing both the Drivers and Constructors World Championships. The same aluminium chassis and GRP body panel principles that were used in the construction of the Type 25 race car were used in the development of the Elise, with the same principles of performance through light weight, low capacity and high output engines at the heart of it's engineering. The Elise Type 25, built to commemorate the revolutionary single-seater, mirrors its design, painted in Lotus Racing Green with twin metallic yellow stripes running front to back. Unique black Lotus-styled, six-spoke wheels complete the racing look from the exterior. Inside, echoing the original, the interior includes perforated Ruby Red leather seats, door panels and steering wheel centre. The heritage look is continued with red laurels embroidered onto the headrest of each seat and a Heritage Type 25 ID plate confirming it's limited-edition status as only 50 of these cars were produced for the UK market. This particular example, number 24 of the 50 produced for the UK market, is supplied with a full book pack, a signed Team Lotus poster, a Lotus Elise Type 25 model, the original order form and the two original keys. It was also specified from new with a stainless-steel exhaust system and a brushed aluminium handbrake sleeve, with both still being in place, as are the factory hard and soft tops, providing all round protection from the elements. With a complete service record from new, and care and attention in recent years from Bell & Colvill, this particular Type 25 has increasing desirability within Lotus circles and will surely continue to demand the respect that only a true driver’s car can provide.SpecificationMake: LOTUSModel: ELISE S2Year: 2002Chassis Number: SCCGA11182HC73069Registration Number: BD02 UZVTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 18K4FN06M524273Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 42952 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Red/BlackClick here for more details and images

Lot 501

Just two owners from new, with single ownership for over 20 years and covering just 734 miles from new.  Amazingly, the car has been serviced, MOT'd and cared for every year of its life, and recently was treated to a five-layer ceramic coating, including the underside. Truly outstanding. After 41 years and with the end in sight, Rover decided to mark the classic Mini’s long life with a penultimate limited-edition prior to the arrival of BMW’s new ‘MINI’. Following the popularity of the ‘Sport Pack’ Minis offered from 1997-2000, it was to be known as the “Mini Cooper Sport” and some 2,200 (1,000 RHD) were built between March and October 2000. They were a totally separate model and externally they could be distinguished by their muscular stance with flared wheel arches and 13" sports alloy wheels, four spot lamps and Platinum-coloured roof and bonnet stripes. The 'Sport' also featured an updated interior with stylish nickel-silver and black leather trim, drilled and polished alloy door and window handles, and a Sport dash in turned alloy silver and black finish. This remarkable example has a lovely, wholesome story behind it and couldn’t be presented in better order for its first time coming to public sale. Originally registered on 05/09/2000, this pretty Sport, one of 267 finished in British Racing Green, has covered just 734 miles from new with 370 of those miles being added in the last two years. Unlike the vast majority of very low mileage cars, this Mini has been taxed, insured, MOT’d and serviced every single year of its life without fail, regardless of mileage. Once it had received a service and MOT, it went straight back into its single heated garage. The car was the pride and joy of our vendor’s cousin who bought it new and evidently cherished it like no other. She kept the Mini until her passing in 2020 at which point a family member purchased the car from the estate, maintaining it’s single family ownership from new.The history file features a selection of old tax discs and MOTs, the original purchase invoices, its original book pack and associated books, a comprehensive and a chronological work history report from Bailey Automotive who serviced and MOT’d the car every year in our vendors ownership. To preserve the outstanding originality of the car, New Look Detailing were commissioned to carry out a meticulous five-stage ceramic coating to the entire car, including the underside, in order to future-proof its perfection. With a history of caring ownership, the tiny mileage and in stunning condition, this fabulous little Mini Cooper Sport will be right at home in any collection of rare Minis or at the home of any Mini enthusiast. SpecificationMake: MINIModel: COOPER SPORTYear: 2000Chassis Number: SAXXNPAZEYD183642Registration Number: X351 NBJTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 12A2LK70395781Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 734 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Black and Grey LeatherClick here for more details and images
