His first One-man Exhibition, at the Highton Gallery in London in 1970, which featured entirely oil paintings depicting the Hampshire landscape, was a 'sell out', and stimulated considerable interest and achieved rare acclaim from Collectors and Critics, both here and abroad. As with many titles by Ryan, Freak Museum remains a real rarity, amongst the many monstrous inhabitants of the titular museum perhaps the most fearsome is the Stomach, consisting largely of a "prone, obscene, living sac".
