The plaques are hand-enamelled with scenes from 'The British Empire Panels' designed by Frank Brangwyn. The Brangwyn panels were commissioned by Lord Iveagh for the House of Lords to commemorate deceased peers, though the designs were rejected by the House of Lords as too frivolously decorative. The panels are now on display at Swansea Civic Centre. Clarice Cliff adapted designs from three of Brangwyn's panels for these limited edition wall plaques.
