**ADDITIONAL LOT** SALVADOR DALI (SPANISH, 1904-1989) Le Cheval a la Montre Molle Bronze with green and gold patina, 46cm high, 57cm wide (excluding plinth) Black marble plinth, 16.5cm deep, 51.5cm wide Signed "Dali" to the right hind leg, limited edition numbered 274/350 (underneath the saddle), dated and with foundry mark "C Camblest 1981" (under the two front legs) The original was first conceived and cast in 1980. The title of this well know Dali work translates to "Horse Saddled with Time". Explanations of the piece reference Dali's preoccupation with time and state that Time itself is the rider of this dreamlike horse. It forces the viewer to acknowledge their own sense of mortality. The bucking horse is saddled with Dalí's infamous melting clock, a symbol which first appeared in his 1931 work, La persistance de la mémoire. The horse has risen on his hind legs, attempting to rear and overthrow the clock, but his efforts are thwarted and only a slight elevation is achieved as Time cannot be overthrown. Provenance: Purchased from the Dali Espace Montmartre, Paris

à d. de poche], supervisées au Studio du Charme antique" 古香斋鉴赏袖珍本. TWO FASCICLES OF ABRIDGED BUDDHIST LEXICONS, QIANLONG PERIOD IMPERIAL EDITION FROM THE STUDIO OF ANTIQUE CHARM GUXIANGZHAI 古香斋 The fascicles are printed on paper and bound in night blue silk with a yellow un-inscribed title label. Both are wrapped in a very fine case with ruyi and cloud shaped cut-outs, covered in brocade with scattered flowers on a yellow ground. A red seal “Great seal [for works] examined by His Majesty during the Qianlong era” 乾隆御览之宝 is printed on the first and last page of each fascicle. A 19th century ex libris with a coat of arms and the motto “Sapere aude” is pasted on the book case. A loose sheet folded eight times with invocations to Avalokitesvara and a picture of Guanyin with child has been slipped in the book case. (Slight wear and a few damp spots). China, Qing dynasty, Qianlong period (1736-1795). Dim. (each fascicle) 5 15/16 x 3 15/16 in. - Dim. (total) 6 ¼ x 4 5/16 x 1 in. Notes : The Studio of Antique Charm was Qianlong’s living quarters in the Forbidden City when he was Heir apparent. This studio was well known for printing a collection of small format editions of the Classics, books on History and Government : “Sleeve [i.e. pocket] editions supervised at the Studio of Antique Charm” 古香斋鉴赏袖珍本. According to the Répertoire général des ex-libris français, document n°A0570, the ex-libris would have been that of Joseph Aude (1755-1841), Knight of Malta, playwright, known for creating Cadet Roussel and Madame Angot. Measuring 58 x 40 mm, the ex-libris would have been engraved on copper by Frank Lefort in the 19th century. His descendant, André-Félix Aude (1867-1945), author of works about Le Berry [a French Province] and Genealogy, also collector of printed music, would have kept the use of this ex-libris.
