The binding is in fairly good condition, with some bumping and rubbing, especially around the corners and edges, which bear some relatively small areas of loss. Embossed gilt generally in good condition, with only minor fading. Some wear to the guttering. Some foxing to the page edges. Internally, the contents are fairly bright, with generally only limited foxing. There is some very extensive foxing to the first page (as shown in condition report image). This page also bears a price inscribed in pencil. Tipped-in plates in very good condition and all present.

Patrick Hughes (b. 1939) Good Morning Waste Paper 1991 Screen-print Edition 71/75 Measures 96cm x 72cm. Framed and glazed. Patrick was born in Birmingham, England in October 1939. His first exhibition was in 1961 and his first reverspective, Sticking-out Room, was made in 1964. Hughes' original painted reliefs are concerned with optical and visual illusions, the science of perception and the nature of artistic representation. He has written and collated three books on the visual and verbal rhetoric of the paradox and oxymoron. He has made a hundred editions of screenprints and is making his way towards a hundred editions of multiples. Eileen Cooper is an artist known for her strong and passionate commitment to figuration. Originally from the Peak District, Cooper has exhibited widely in the UK and internationally. Her work is held in many public and private collections including the Tate Gallery; the Arts Council Collection; the British Museum; Manchester Art Gallery; Mima, Middlesborough; New Hall Art Collection, University of Cambridge; the Royal Collection; Victoria & Albert Museum; Dallas Museum of Art, Texas; Kunsthalle, Nuremberg; Walpole Library, Yale University. Studying first at Goldsmiths College (1971-74) and then at the Royal College of Art (1974-77) she went on to teach at a wide range of art schools including St Martin’s, the Royal College of Art, City & Guilds in London and latterly at the Royal Academy of Arts. In 2000 she was elected a Royal Academician. From 2010-17 Cooper served as Keeper of the Royal Academy, one of only 4 officers selected from the 80 Royal Academicians, and with primary responsibility for the Royal Academy Schools, thereby becoming the first woman to be elected to this role since the RA began in 1768. Trevor Haddrell (British b. 1945) - The Returning Sun - 2022 Hand Printed Engraving Edition 5/75 Trevor was born in South Yorkshire and trained at Bath Academy of Art. As a teacher (Head of Art, then Head of Art & Design in Bristol schools) he taught many aspects of the subject and in the last ten years of his career developed an abiding enthusiasm for relief printing. From 2000 he became a professional artist to explore this passion further. His favourite themes include cityscapes of UK and foreign cities, rooftop views and panoramas especially; theatres and opera houses including imagined on-stage scenes; natural forms including monumental studies of flowers, fruits and vegetables; a growing series of intimate cat studies; and purely abstract work. In addition to his black and white techniques with lino-cuts and wood engraving, Trevor works in pen and ink, watercolour, pastel and acrylic. One print, the first of a set of large-scale panoramic engravings of Bristol, won a major prize for outstanding merit in the National Print Show (RWA, 1997): another won a prize in 2006. He has become an elected member of the Society of Wood Engravers. He was Artist in Residence at the Records Office in Bristol in 2005 when he produced his largest engraving, a rooftop view over 8 feet in length.
