COPAC lists copies of the 1863 edition in the V & A and 1864 in the British Library but no others, and WorldCat has no listing of an 1865 edition.

[Burnet (Thomas)] Telluris theoria sacra, 2 parts in 1, first edition, issue with swash "N" in "Nostri" on title & smaller ampersand on line below, lacking frontispiece but with 2 folding engraved maps of eastern and western hemispheres, engraved illustrations, lacking initial blank but with final advertisement leaf, title with author's name supplied in contemporary manuscript, contemporary calf, a little rubbed, [Wing B5948], R.N. for Walter Kettilby, 1681; and a Cellarius Geographia antiqua of 1764 with engraved maps, 4to & 8vo (2)⁂ Important work of cosmogony, suggesting that the earth was hollow and filled with water until Noah's Flood when the water escaped and created the oceans. The folding maps attempt to show the earth's surface in relief including the floor of the oceans; the western hemisphere shows California as an island. A third and fourth part were published later, in 1689.

Catlin (George) The Breath of Life, or mal-Respiration and its effects upon the enjoyments & life of man (manu-graph), first English edition, lithographed facsimile manuscript, illustrations, with A.L.s from John Tucker thanking for the loan of the book and with 4 flyers advertising his "Anti-Snorer" Elastic Belt (one a corrected proof) loosely inserted, contemporary roan-backed cloth with original lithographed wrappers mounted on boards, rubbed and soiled, 1862; with a small bundle of trade catalogues and advertisements for other electric belts or corsets, soap, toothpaste, hair curlers, lime juice, stoves etc., many pictorial, some chromolithographed, a few cut-out shapes, v.s. (a bundle) ⁂ Catlin's book, first published in letterpress in New York in 1861, recommends the Native American way of sleeping with the head raised and tipped forward to prevent breathing through the mouth, a custom which he claims produces improved health. John Tucker's letter remarks how he suffered from sleeping with his mouth open and as a result of reading Catlin's work he invented his belt to keep the mouth shut during repose.

This copy complies with Wing R1332 but for the lack of an imprint. ESTC lists several editions, the earliest being 1664 of which there are 5 UK copies recorded.

The Duke of Gloucester, nephew of George III, was the first President, and William Wilberforce one of its leaders. The abolitionist William Roscoe of Liverpool had proposed that trade with Africa would be the greatest benefit to promoting civilisation in Freetown but George Harrison advises caution. COPAC lists 3 copies of his pamphlet (BL, Newcastle University, and the Society of Friends).

America.- Bownas (Samuel) An Account of the Life, Travels, and Christian Experiences in the Work of the Ministry..., first edition, with final advertisement leaf, H6 stained and lower margin cut away, contemporary ink inscription "William Brown's Book Bott 5 mo. 30.1757 Cost 2/-" on front pastedown, contemporary speckled calf, gilt, old paper label to spine, a little rubbed, spine repaired at head, [Sabin 7097], 8vo, by Luke Hinde, 1756.⁂ Samuel Bownas (1677-1753) was a Quaker minister who travelled to America to spread the Gospel but was imprisoned on Long Island for preaching, being released after a year. His book includes encounters with Native Americans and with Elizabeth Hanson who had been held captive with her children and whose story he later published in 1760.William Brown - it is tempting to wonder whether this might be the same William Brown whose father, also William (1658-1746), emigrated to America with his family in 1682 and became one of the early settlers of the Quaker settlement of Nottingham, Pennsylvania. Certainly the inscription contains a date in the Quaker style.

In 1964, six casks previously used to mature bourbon were filled at the Bowmore distillery and laid to rest for 43 years. When they emerged they filled 732 bottles. The chosen warehouse was the distilleries famous No 1 vaults, which is said to have a unique microclimate with one of the walls forming part of the town's sea wall and it is also below sea level. The distillates from the 1950s and 1960s are the finest that Bowmore has ever produced, but also represent some of the best whisky in the world of any era. They have a seductive balance of tropical fruits infused with a subtle smoke, which is highly sought after by whisky connoisseurs. Bowmore White is the second in the series of a trio of bottles from 1964. The first edition was Bowmore Black, matured in Oloroso sherry casks and bottled in 2007, and Bowmore Gold, matured in three bourbon and one oloroso sherry cask and bottled in 2009. The official tasting notes are 'The colour is golden syrup, with amazing aromas of Gallia melon, mango and papaya. On the palate, there are hints of mixed exotic fruits, vanilla and maple syrup with just a trace of Bowmore peat smoke. The finish is surprisingly clean and incredibly long.'
