This the first of 25 lots of works, with an artist`s family provenance, by this distinguished modernist Irish/Jewish artist (1907-1987). She studied in Dublin, Paris & at the Bauhaus. Samuel Beckett, James Joyce & others were her friends, & the latter asked her to provide illustrations for an edition of Finnegan`s Wake. Steyn had a one-woman exhibition at the Leicester Galleries in 1951, and three years later a joint show was held there with Ivon Hitchens.
